Angels of Bourbon Street ( Jade Calhoun book 4)
By Deanna Chase
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶

Despite having lost half her soul, coven leader Jade Calhoun is determined to lead a regular life, and that means planning her wedding. With just five weeks until the big event, plans are halted when Jade falls victim to a ghost possession. Unfortunately, it appears the only way to keep the ghost at bay is to spend twenty-four hours a day with the last person Jade wants to share a house with - the angel who has the other half of her soul.

Things go from bad to worse when the ghost targets Jade's friends and her fiance, Kane. The ghost is using sex magic to steal Jade's power, and she'll stop at nothing to get what she wants. Even if it means forcing Jade into the arms of another man. In order to banish the ghost, fix her soul, and have a chance at her happy ending, Jade will need to find her father and uncover the decades-old secret her mother is determined to keep hidden.

I love this series the writing and character building is so good. It’s a really enjoyable series to read they get better as they go on. It’s great to see Jade fighting back and not giving up especially with half a soul , a ghost chasing her and friends as well as planning a wedding. Recommend for those witch story lovers.

LIAR is the first book by this author I have read and, if she continues with the trilogy as she wants to, it won't be the last! I don't usually read demons/angels but something about this blurb pulled me in, and I'm so very glad it did.

I read a lot of PNR so am no stranger to insta-love. But in this case, Ben rubbed me the wrong way from the very beginning and I couldn't say why as he appeared to be perfectly nice. Anwir, on the other hand, is not a nice demon. He is selfish and treats others very harshly. He changes when he meets Amber. Does that make up for his past? No, not at all, but it does show there is a chance for change.

I would have liked a bit more about the personalities of the three main characters. The focus appeared to be on hair/eye colour etc., more than other attributes. There are also other parts that appear to have been left open-ended so I'm really hoping to have my questions answered in future books.

Overall, this was a great read that kept my attention. I can't wait to see where things go next. Definitely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

The Five Angels ( Book 1)
By Kimberley M. Ringer
⭐️⭐️

Megan had never been “normal”. Sure, on the outside she looked and acted just like any other woman in her mid-20’s. Only Megan has a secret, okay two secrets. She’s totally in love with her best friend, CJ and she has the ability to see the future which includes the good, the bad, and the ugly. Little does she know those were going to be the least of her problems.

When CJ asks her out on a date, she can’t believe that she is finally getting a silver lining in life. Only just when things couldn’t be going better for them, Megan and CJ disappear in a swirl of blue smoke and land in Nalrin. After suddenly finding herself standing before a woman claiming to be her mother’s sister, Megan finds out she isn’t human at all and that her parents fled Nalrin to save themselves. If that isn’t enough to make her head spin, now Megan must try to stop them from destroying Nalrin, and taking the one thing she isn’t willing to lose.

I really don’t know what kept me reading but for some reason I kept going till the end. It wasn’t all bad I just got a little bored halfway through and as I’d already come so far I pushed through. It was the kind of book where it’s magic so we will throw everything in including the kitchen sink.

Hells Bells!
<2022 update>

I should perhaps mention that Michael Carpenter and his family don't actually turn up until a fair ways into the story ...

<original 2015 review>

"Last year I died, but I got better"

It's probably been over a year since I read the last Harry Dresden book, as I'd been waiting (and waiting, and waiting ...) for this one to come out in paperback. Was it worth the wait?

Absolutely yes.

I know it's still only March (nearly April), but this is a strong contender for my choice for book of the year - definitely the best I've read so far this year, with the bar set VERY high for any others later this year to match.

As this starts, Harry is still on Demonreach island, still recovering from previous events in Cold Days. It's not long, however, before Mab - the Winter Queen - has Harry (as her Winter Knight) paying off on of her debts, forcing him to work with Nicodemus Archleone and the Knights of the Blackened Denarius. Harry has to help Nicodemus to rob a vault belonging to the Lord of the Underworld Hades himself, while somehow staying alive and a step ahead of the inevitable betrayal.

As the Knights of the Denarius are involved, this also means that the Knights of the Cross - or, more specifically, Michael Carpenter - are back in the novel, as counter-points to the fallen angels. So, too, are Waldo Butters, Molly Carpenter, Bob the skull and Karrin Murphy with Thomas, however, conspicuous by his absence.

Ferns Flight ( Sisters of Hex: Fern book 3)
By Bea Paige
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶

With her Angels of Death by her side, Fern must lead Clan Vitae to war. But can she become the leader they need, when there's so much at stake?

Fern must lead her clan to war, but it would appear the evil Queen Adrielle has other ideas. Can she save her clan from the Queen's wrath or will she have nothing more than a little hope to fight the darkness? Read the thrilling conclusion to Fern's trilogy to find out!

Fern's Flight is the final book of Fern's trilogy and continues the Sisters of Hex story. To get a full picture of the overarching storyline you might wish to read Accacia's trilogy first.

The Sisters of Hex series - five sisters, five clans, one curse and a whole host of paranormal creatures.

Holy crap it all happens In This book!! It ran packed with drama, action and a little bit of spice! This has to be hands down my favourite one in the series. I know it’s a good book when towards the end you get that itchy feeling yes I’m very strange lol. Fern and her men really picked up in this book as well as the familiar faces from the first trilogy with Accacia and her vamps. Bea Paige has this way of drawing you in! Definitely recommend both this series and author although I can’t see anything for the next set of books.
