Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
This story and the events felt so real to me, even though this was a fictional story. It was so amazing and I loved every moment of the book, even the p[arts that made em emotional. I loved this book and I would highly recommend it to everyone else.

A woman tries to do her taxes.
Huh?
Well, that was one absurd movie.
Takes its basis as the good old Multiverse - basically, every decision you have ever made creates a new reality (basically, Terry Pratchett's 'The Trousers of Time'), and starring Michelle Yeoh alongside Ke Huy Quon (Temple of Doom's Short Round), this takes that notion to its extreme.
Some of the martial arts action scenes are brilliant, but you'll probably spend more time than enough trying to work out just what on earth is going on ....

The Chosen One
What was this film, like honestly? It makes no sense at all. Its confusing, the action/cgi effects are hilariously bad and a waste of early 2000's metal music. Overall it is a weird but fun movie to watch. Jet Li and Jason Statham do a good job in this film. This film is a mix of like six different genres from sci-fi to action to martial arts to whatever else. By the end of the movie, i was overall confused but entertained. Thanks early 2000's for coming up with this movie.

Great fan service (2 more)
Excellent choreography
Genuinely made me chuckle
A great video game film
This is probably one of the best video game adaptations I've seen, and I was thoroughly impressed.
The story is quite engaging, and the casting is absolutely spot on.
If you watched the Mortal Kombat web series (which, if you're a fan of the game, I'd highly recommend), then this is an excellent continuation of it, but it's just as accessible for newbies.
Don't expect big things, but if you want a bit of martial arts fun, with some humour and mysticism thrown in, this'll be right up your alley.

An origin story that was better left alone or in better hands.
Contains spoilers, click to show
In the city of Bangkok, criminal kingpin Bison (McDonough), begins a violent bid for power in the city's slums, eliminating everyone who gets in his way.
with the violence escalating, heroes emerges in an attempt to bring Bison to justice. Fighting for good are Chun-Li (Kristin Kreuk), martial-arts master Gen (Robin Shou) although rarely seen, Interpol agent Charlie Nash (Chris Klein) and his partner, Maya Sunee (Moon Bloodgood).
In their way are also bisons Henchmen Vega (black eyed peas Taboo) Balrog (Michael Clarke duncan) & Catana (josie ho).
Unfortunately this attempt at n origin movie is almost completely flawed.
1) chun li's origin is completely unoriginal
2)both Michael Clarke duncan and Taboo were wrong for the parts visually & given the actor's ages during filming of an origin story wouldn't have helped any possible sequels.
3) chun li is displayed martial arts master...this early??
4) Vega is defeated too easily during first encounter with chun li, considering he's a skilled assassin?!
Although there's obviously actresses who could've been worse I feel Kristen kreuk wasn't the right choice for the role as she seemed physically weak where the character of chun li has always been seen as a strong female character, I would've preferred Ming-Na wen to reprise her role in a new story, with childhood flash backs.

My undying love for martial arts films relinquishes me my right to justifiably dislike this rather disappointing experience. Don't get me wrong, it's a rock-solid actioner filled with crunchy, brute fight sequences that always left me with a big, dumb grin on my face - choreographed to blissful perfection. But I just can't with the rest of it man, I'd be lying if I said it didn't have its moments but does every one of these mopey WWI/WWII films have to be so lusterless and conventional? I found the melodrama here to be particularly dry, simple, and flat - seemingly inert - at *least* 17 minutes too long. Feels like a clunkier and cheaper riff of Jet Li's ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด but more repetitive and way less exciting, even the fights start to wear as it continues to slug on. Donnie Yen carries it well and almost personally saves it from mediocrity, I'm really sure this means well but I feel like I've seen this film fifty times - thank Lord for the A-class martial arts because the war stuff has the same invasive yet stagnant existence as a much less visually accomplished ๐๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ช๐ณ๐ด ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ข ๐๐ฆ๐ช๐ด๐ฉ๐ข. To me this feels like an inexperienced director's first movie (even though it isn't, apparently) but then Yen comes in and beats the shit out of people with a hilariously long bamboo stick and everything is okay again.
