Dana (24 KP) rated Alice in Zombieland - White Rabbit Chronicles in Books
Mar 23, 2018
I really enjoyed this book. There was just enough action and romance in it. A lot of people may say that they don't like it because it has nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland (which is one of my all time favorite books) but it is the subtle hints at the characters from Alice in Wonderland that make it awesome. It is not a remake of a classic, but an amazing telling of a story with characters who may have some of the same traits as the originals. Alice Bell is strong, independent, courageous and faithful, just like Alice from Caroll's book. I highly recommend this book.

A Fairly Awesome Mix
Marvel sequel has everything you liked from the original (probably), except the strength of the script (original writer did not come back and director James Gunn, not noted for his iron grip on narrative, did it himself).
Lots of good jokes and set pieces ensue, but one quickly loses track of exactly where the film thinks it's going - the middle section meanders about like crazy. Tries to strike a more serious note at the end; winds up just coming across as a bit sentimental. Lots to niggle about, but also a great deal to enjoy - hopefully they'll make Gunn use a co-writer on Volume 3.

Chris Pratt steals the show
I loved this! Just as much as I enjoyed the first one. Chris Pratt brings so much humour and "normalmess" to the film. Finding out more about his character and watching the developing relationships and new relationships form felt personal. It had such a feel good feeling surrounding it even when emotions were high. Of course it was action packed with a strong vast. I didn't think baby groot could have had a decent role with this film, but I was surprised and accepting of his role and appearance. I could watch this over and over.
I can't forget to add that the soundtrack is awesome!

The amazing costumes (3 more)
Awesome music videos
One, two, three, four, I declare a dance war!
Did somebody say remix album???
Classic FF5 is still the best
While not all the songs on this album are great (tbh all their break up songs rather suck), Radiator is the song that got me into this band. Probably since it was the only one I could understand over screaming, drums, and bass at the concert, but that is definitely the sign of a good concert. This album is best when blasted as high a volume as you are able.

Kristin (149 KP) rated How to Navigate Zombie Cave and Defeat Pirate Pete in Books

Disclaimer: I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was so excited to read this story just from the cover and blurb. Although it's "middle-grade", I found it immensely enjoyable, and I laughed myself silly quite a bit. Who wouldn't want to read a young boy exploring a zombie cave and trying to find pirate treasure? I definitely wouldn't want to BE said explorer, but Mick's story is awesome, and I couldn't put the book down until I'd finished it (and made notes right along with him as to what I'd need should I ever decide to pursue this adventure...).
5 stars!

This book was just the book for me. I found myself in love with Felicia Day's quirky and unique experiences. This book is full of fun, horrifying, and hilarious stories that shows the reader just how awesome she is.
Felicia didn't hold back in this book, you get an in depth look into her life and how she became who she is today. You learn about her depression, her health issues, her friendships, and her family.
I'm so glad that I purchased this book. It was quirky and hilarious and I loved every minute of it.

Alright - this book wasn't bad it was a bit confusing in the beginning, trying to be multiple things at once I felt, but then you get to know the book and the characters and it wasn't what I had originally thought going in. There was a grammar error that I absolutely hated "more faster" just killed the book for me more than it should have. Though I did enjoy reading it and some of the lines in there were hilarious, and Alosa and Riden were great, Enwin (sp) was awesome too. I just hoped for more I think I'd give it a 3.5 and I do plan to read Siren Queen

Oh man Albertalli - I love your books - Simon is one of my fav books - which I am bout to read again for the second time - this one was awesome and a fast read. I adored the last 150 or so pages and especially the last 100 - the diversity in the book was on point and it was ... adorable.. yes, so adorable. There was a lot of aspects LGBT, anxiety , etc. touched on in here and pressures of drinking/relationships and it was just well written I loved every second - a definite must read and I'm so glad I got this in a book box and it was signed!!!

You're a Wizard Harry!
For those of you who don't know me very well, I love Harry Potter. I am obsessed. I have read the books a thousand times, know all the lines from the movies and listen to the music to calm me down.
You could say I am a fan. Just a little bit.
So when my super duper awesome best friend brought me the newest editions of the Harry Potter series, it just gave me an excuse to read them all again. Oh, and to educate you all on the greatness of Harry Potter.

Fantastic characters (2 more)
Imaginative world building
Wonderful plot
A wonderful reimagining
This book is the first in the series. This book was on my list for awhile, but I had been holding off reading it. I’m glad I finally did. It was a fast paced adventure with a sprinkle of romance. It had me rooting for Cinder the whole time, and there were enough twists to keep everything interesting. The villain was good, though I think she could have been given stonger motives. This was a fantastic retelling of an old fairytale, with an awesome sci-fi twist. I would highly recommend it.
