Frecklesxoxo (6 KP) rated The Vampire Secret in Books
Feb 27, 2019
When I read the blurb I thought oooooooh I can't wait and a started it, read the first chapter and thought hmmmm this may not be for me and I read a different book.
I then went back to it and it must have been me just not being in the right genre mindset because the 2nd chapter onwards I was hooked.
I love love love vampire books and it was a new take on the human / vampire love story.
The character building was amazing and there are so many layers to each character.
I think it's awesome that she was the one to chase and stalk the vampire and I'm gutted the book ended as I want to know what happens next so I'm looking forward to the sequel :)

Live action anime that's full of action
Potentially unpopular review starting in 3,2,1...I think this is a better watch than the anime. Now I love anime and I've seen the original but do I love it? No - it's good but not great. Now this live action version delivers on all fronts. Visually its stunning and all the action sequences are great. Now my review is not the place to get into the issue that is whitewashing. Scarlett Johansson does a brilliant job and gets all the mannerisms right - even her walk BUT could an Asian actress have done the job? Of course. Speaking of Asian actors Best Takeshi is awesome as usual and steals every scene he is in. Well worth a watch.

Gus Galaxy (2 KP) rated Ghostbusters (2016) in Movies

Cast was incredible! McCarthy and Hemsworth were perfect choices, would have loved more of Bill Murray's character though! (2 more)
Great story flow and sequences. I would have liked more from Rowan, but the Kevin twist was superb!
Characters blended perfectly together. EXCELLENT CHEMISTRY from top billing to minor characters.
The movie should have acknowledged that this is an alternate dimension, which it is. People are more intrigued with it being an alternate dimension that a reboot, because the sequel comics are even more awesome! (1 more)
I need more depth from Rowan, guy was a genius who was left looking like a bumbling fool, and a whole lot more Martin Heiss, especially after the fall! Imagine a wacky neck brace sporting Dr. Heiss freaking out about being proven wrong and going crazy!
Third Chapter IS Alternate Dimension!

Lumos (380 KP) rated Progress: Evolution of Technology in Tabletop Games
Mar 21, 2018
I love this game! It is very similar to 7 Wonders in that you progress through the game by evolving or upgrading your technology. For example, you might start with the ability to farm papyrus. This will eventually lead you to be able to make paper. Once you have paper, you can then learn to write and create poetry, and so on. I love that it shows the hole process broken down. Another thing I thought was really wonderful about this game was that throughout the entire rule book, players are referred to using feminine pronouns. The fact that the creators of this game are aware that there are female gamers is awesome, and that there are female gamers that are into technology, was totally cool. Mad kudos to the creators for that!

Awix (3310 KP) rated Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. (1966) in Movies
Feb 26, 2018 (Updated Feb 26, 2018)
Don't Forget the Honey, Mummy
Second of the Subotsky-Rosenberg Dr Who movies eschews the darkness and it-happened-here subtext of the TV serial in favour of a jolly plastic romp set in a startling vision of 2150 where donkey jackets and flat caps have come back into fashion and everyone only eats Sugar Puffs (although that may just be the product placement).
Actually rather charming on its own terms, and a number of good actors (Cushing, Keir, Philip Madoc) are trying really hard with the material. Just sit back and let it wash over you and it's highly entertaining stuff. Contains more bongo-drumming on the soundtrack than any other alien invasion movie in history. Extra point very nearly added for the awesome food machine sequence with Cribbins and the robo-men.

Sophie discovers that Ogres are causing trouble in her new realm, but with the Black Swan staying silent, she has to work overtime to figure out what to do next. Meanwhile, the Council is asking her to do something that is dividing the rest of the Elves. What should she do?
This is the longest book in the series to date and also the strongest. The characters continue to grow here, and the development in this book is awesome. The plot is strong from start to finish, and I couldn’t turn pages fast enough to find out what would happen next. Now, I just have to wait for the next book in the series.

Gail (4 KP) rated Waiting for Tuesday (Suspicious Hearts, #2) in Books
Jun 4, 2018
I hate boring stories happy that this wasn’t one. Tuesday didn’t want wild nights or one night stands. She needs stability and forever. Then she meets John and all that is over. How could this hot guy want her and be faithful. John was awesome he was very loving and patient. His commitment to Tuesday is beautiful. For the simple fact that he didn’t know if he could do relationships. She wanted nothing to do with him so she kept pushing. Well John wanted the complete opposite so he kept pulling until she gave in. When she needs some remodeling done she is shocked that John was there. When things get hot they both finally get what they want each other. A good read for someone looking for light and sweet.

Kristin (149 KP) rated Murder Red Ink in Books
Dec 7, 2018
Disclaimer: I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
I personally loved "Ghosts of San Francisco" and I'm an avid reader of anything having to do with Jack the Ripper, so when I was given the opportunity to read and review "Murder Red Ink," there was no way I could pass it up. And once again, Mr. McGhee does not disappoint!
This book involves a very interesting take on the Ripper murders, and it kept me engrossed from beginning to end. There were many times I had to put it down because of that pesky thing called "life," but I just didn't want to, and that's how you know a book is awesome.
Wonderful novel, tantalizing plot and theories, and another great story from this author. Keep 'em coming! =)

ashezbookz (32 KP) rated The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #4) in Books
Jul 5, 2018
Ugh Percy if your book wasn't so funny I would really stop reading you. Book #4, almost done the series and I will keep reading you of course because.. why stop now?
You're always so cute and funny to read but still not that super awesome of a book. Always disappointed at the end when I finish, but super quick reads so I don't feel bad about it either way.
Grover is always my favourite character to read and now Tyson added to that list as well - again with the secondaries. The story was fun, the historyness of the gods is always fun to read or whatnot but still nothing to write home about.
2.5 lovely stars for you Percy, perhaps you shall surprise me with book 5.....................................................

Eve (9 KP) rated Lethal Weapon in TV

Exceptional action
Contains spoilers, click to show
Have watched since season 1 as i like the original films, i love how its the same as the films but modern.
Clayne Crawford who plays Riggs plays the character so well, he is so believable and you want to just give him a big hug! I loved Damon wayans in my wife and kids, he is hilarious and is the same in this! He plays the role of murtargh, they seem like chalk and cheese at the start but progressively become close. They become the perfect team although still arguing about pretty much everything!
I can't wait for season 3 but gutted clayne will not be in it.
