Terry Whitaker (120 KP) rated Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) in Movies
Nov 25, 2019 (Updated Nov 25, 2019)
The kids use words for the different use of the word that they use. Keeping up? Sick, doesn't actually mean you are going to actually be sick. If something is sick, it can actually mean its crazily awesome. Yeah, I know, kids huh?! Ridiculous doesn't mean it's so stupidly impossible, it can also mean it's awesomely good fun. I know, go figure?!
However, 'Ridiculous' is a perfect word for this film, both meanings of it in equal measure. It's so ridiculous, its ridiculous and all the better for being so!
Statham and Johnson have banter that wouldn't be out of place in a Dad Joke competition. They're so bad, they're bad!
The action and stunts are over the top and outrageous but you enjoy every thread of outrageousness. There is a bit of a story in amongst it all. But this is all about the action, not the story...and you don't really care. You want story, then maybe the Jason Bourne films will be up your street (and bloody good movies they are too!)
Hobbs and Shaw are what Saturday evenings are made for. Complete nonsense for your ears and eyes. Your senses will love you for it as your brain takes the night off to relax. It's full on Alpha- Male- Ego childish nonsense. The lads will lap it up. As may the ladies....ok, they might not but they will put up with it because they love you.
This is everything that you can't believe but everything you want to watch.
You want sensible? Sense and Sensibility is over there somewhere. You want to enjoy a film, then watch this. You deserve it.
Sophia (Bookwyrming Thoughts) (530 KP) rated Lost in Wonderland in Books

Lost in Wonderland has got to be one of the weirdest books Ive ever read, and if Ive read a weirder book than this one, then this is the weirdest book Ive read this year.
Okay, the books weirdness is what intrigued me to read the book in the first place. But let me say just how weird this book really is:
The book starts with a character named Mouse. Honestly, I thought the book started with a legit mouse (it really sounded like one as well). A flipping mouse! Who starts a book with a mouse?! Really, I just got so confused for awhile at the very beginning, so to save everyone elses sanity, the main character is not actually a mouse.
Its a reference to some of the characters involved in Lewis Carrolls Alice In Wonderland. After that got cleared out, the plot actually made a lot more sense. (Lets also keep in mind that I do not remember the synopsis of a book. I read it, I find it interesting, I get the book myself, and then actually read the book. Maybe Ill remember the synopsis if Im lucky.)
But anyways, Lost In Wonderland is extremely weird. As in, top of the notch weird. Its disturbing and gruesome and twisted. But its such a good kind of weird, that I think this entire series would be a really cool TV show. Lost In Wonderland is basically Law & Order, CSI - just think of any crime related shows - with a fairy tale twist. I just cant get how awesome this would be on an actual screen, and I just want to see if Peacock incorporates any other fairy tales or just Alice In Wonderland.

Sophia (Bookwyrming Thoughts) (530 KP) rated Dragon Marked (Supernatural Prison, #1) in Books
Jan 23, 2020
Erm… it could go both ways.
What I Liked:
~ Jessa has spunk and no filter. She has no problems giving people her two cents.
Dragon shifters are awesome, hands down.
~ The concept – a supernatural community just to guard a prison for supernatural criminals? Oh, and those prisons are being broken into and no one knows how? Plus, the main character is dragon marked (prophesized to raise some sort of dragon king of a thousand years ago) and the Quads (aka four brothers who turn heads everywhere they turn) are supposed to hunt and kill her? Grabby hands ensues. <del>Because I just adore potential best friends turned murderer type of stories.</del>
~ Possessiveness: I normally really hate possessiveness, but Jaymin Eve doesn’t overplay it. Possessiveness is a part of the culture for the supernaturals, but Jessa isn’t sheltered.
What I Didn’t Like:
~ Does anyone have a problem with an entire family ruling most of the American Supernatural council? I mean, there’s a scuffle or two that carries as the main plot of the first book, but for the most part, almost everyone is completely okay with the Quads taking over 4/5 of the council.
~ Every page or two (maybe a little more), there’s a bomb of information about the supernaturals. Some are repetitive with the usual tropes, but I might be okay with that. Just a little.
~ Eve has humor throughout the book, but um… too much information sometimes. It doesn’t clash too well with Jessa’s personality. No filter humor? Little kid guilty of peeking at the wrong time.
All in all, Dragon Marked does have potential. But while there might be one plot in just one book, the overall arc of the story is primarily set up with lots of information.
And tootles to everyone who handles a no filter main character with the occasional weird humor better than me.
