Entertainingly bad
Let's face it, you know a film with Gerard Butler in it is never going to be good. But at least with Gods of Egypt it's that bad it's vaguely entertaining.
It's take on Egyptian mythology is actually an interesting one and it's just a shame they decided to take some of it too far with over the top and pretty naff CGI. Gerard Butler hams it up and it's quite funny to listen to his accent constantly switching between English, Scottish and American. Nicolaj Coster-Waldau is a good actor but he's given absolutely nothing to work with here other than a terrible cheesy and stilted script. Brenton Thwaites isn't too bad either but he does seem to be playing a very similar character to that of the latest Pirates film.
This is one of those films you watch just to laugh at how bad it is. And fortunately for this, I've seen worse!

I usually love a good chick flick,
But this a film my wife dragged me too,
This film is hard to watch a part from the boobie shots and arm punching from me whispering the word boobie to my wife as she is watching it,
We also recieved a glare as the fight scene was so bad that the main character gets bitch slapped into a coma,
I said this to my wife and she could not hold it in at how bad it was.... hence the evil glare
And dont get me started on the bad guy called mr hyde...

Gets a bad wrap
Certainly a major step down from the first two which are obvious classics. Even a step down from Alien 3 which is also divisive, but pretty good film. The scene with the Ripley clones and some of the Alien stuff is pretty cool here, and not as bad as the film's reputation through the years. I've seen people compare to Superman IV which should be wiped off the face of the Earth as not nearly as bad as that. I would say I liked Prometheus better than Alien Resurrection, but for different reasons. It seemed like this film just didn't have enough energy and not enough fresh ideas.

Still not appropriate for kids....but close
Oh. Am. Gee. I knew I wanted to see this movie cuz I knew it would be good. Had no clue it would be as good as it was. Knowing who the bad guys are in no way takes away from the film. I did have a couple places where I had to close my eyes. The ground just looked a little too far away. I'm not afraid of heights at all, so if you are, be warned: this movie will test those fears.
Bottom line: see this movie! You'll be glad you did!!!
