Not bad for an origin movie
Not a bad movie, did a good job of portraying the origins of Diana (if I'm gonna compare it to anything it would be a cross between the first movies of Captain America and Thor).
I could have used a more ominous villain, albeit the movie built well and provided reasoning for pretty much every plot choice.
Best DC movie of the current continuity with a view to building the franchise (still a way behind Marvel IMO despite having the more iconic characters).
All in all a solid and very enjoyable movie.

Good idea, bad execution
I remember watching this when it first came out at the cinema and thinking it was actually not too bad, and very gruesome and horrific. Watching it again recently, it doesn't actually come across that well. It's a very good idea, but I think the whole plot is spoilt by the boys holiday theme which is overdone. And some of the acting is terrible, which really loses the sense of terror and suspense. The gore too is underwhelming, after having seen the Saw films etc, Hostel comes across as far too tame.

Bonkers
Let's be honest, a Studio Ghibli film is never going to bad and is most usually going to be a little bit weird and wonderful. Well Ponyo is about as wacky and bonkers as you can get for a storyline, and you spend most of this film wondering what on earth you're watching. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just a bit surreal.
The animation side is wonderful as always and it's a heartwarming story, albeit a bit crazy. I wouldn't say it's one of my favourite Studio Ghibli films, but its still a fun family entertaining animation.

One of the low budget late night films on the SyFy channel you know will be bad, but you just have to see how bad! It could have been a lot worse, but the minimum budget really effects a film like this that uses a lot of CGI. The effects for the ship at sea are very basic. It doesn't feature a great cast Brooke Burns is the most famous I think, and she is a model! It's a mix of disaster films including Titanic, Poseidon and The day after tomorrow. Only watch if you like cheesy films!
