The Rules of Enchantment is a steamy fantasy story where good and bad aren't always as clear-cut as you might imagine. It reminded me of a mixture between Harry Potter and Robin of Sherwood - and that is not a bad thing!

Leith and Kyler make for excellent main characters, superbly supported by Rowan. The world-building was wonderful, giving the reader enough information to be able to navigate through the world without it just being an overload of information.

I don't know if this is going to be a series or not but I sincerely hope it is. I would love for Rowan to have his story! And I still need more from Leith and Kyler.

This was a brilliant fantasy story that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in recommending.

The story starts off interesting and I do like Sam Witwer as Deacon. He does a great job with the voice acting for him. The combat is fun and brings some intense fights. Traveling in the open world of Oregon is cool and there's some very pretty vistas while riding on the motorcycle. Sometimes the inventory controls feel very clunky, but I made it work. The accessibility isn't bad and I appreciated that they included that. Some of the side missions felt a bit tedious and I wish I could have learned more about certain characters in the different camps. There are two chapters that I feel could have been cut from the game because they didn't really offer a lot to the main story. Sequel to the 2018 original, which - despite being a commercial and critical darling - was a film that I couldn't really see what all the fuss was about.

Despite being a sequel, this actually starts back at 'Day One' with a protracted flash-back scene that I'm not quite sure the point of, before jumping ahead to pick up almost immediately (like, immediately immediately) after the ending of the first film, with the remnants of the same family now leaving their refuge and trekking cross-country to the hills where they know there are other survivors (Cillian Murphy), but now also armed with the knowledge of how to defeat the seemingly-invincible 'hunt by sound' creatures.

What follows is roughly an hour and a half, maybe three quarters or so, where they continue to make bad decision after bad decision, and where the tension is consistently racked up, almost to the the point where the jump scares lose most (but not all) of their impact ...

Not having played any of the games (although I have read some of the earlier books) one of the key problem's with Netflix first season of 'The Witcher', I found, was the way it jumped around timelines with no real clear 'this is set in <period>' shown.


That aspect, thankfully, is almost entirely done away with in the second season which, as a result, means it is far easier to follow just what is going on!

Set in the aftermath of the Battle of Floden field, with Geralt and Ciri now reunited and with Geralt also believing Yennefer to be dead, this season also introduces more members of the group to which he belongs; that is to say, more Witchers.

I found the season overall to be a bit hit and miss: when the episodes were good, they were very good, but when they were bad ... they were bad.

None the less, still interestied to see where this goes!
