Sarah (7800 KP) rated Collateral Beauty (2016) in Movies

The premise is interesting (although obviously not something you can imagine happening in real life) and it has a fantastic cast. Will Smith does okay although I'm not sure if he was quite as good as id expected. Whenever he isn't on screen, the film almost takes on a lighthearted feel which is good as otherwise it'd be too overwhelmingly depressing. I found the ending a little odd though and I'm not sure the reveal had quite the impact that was intended. I'm also not too keen on the phrase "collateral beauty" - it doesn't quite roll off your tongue and because of this when it's featured in the film itself, to me it didn't come across as meaningful as intended.
This is a novella written specifically to wrap up loose ends after the series was canceled. As a result, it will appeal most to series fans. With only 100 pages to work with, the story is fast paces with something always happening to move it forward. The new characters are a bit short changed, but Ophelia and Gabriel are strong, and the plot kept me guessing until the end.

I really loved how descriptive the author was. I had no problems visualizing the fairy world and all of the people in it. I even found myself rereading the descriptions because of how lovely they are worded.
Highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the fairy world and enjoyes escaping in a book to a magical place!
KatyShubo (75 KP) rated Beauty and the Beast (2017) in Movies

The supporting cast bring a host of beloved characters to life with charm and whimsy but they aren’t enough to carry the shambolic leads who just do not embody Beauty and The Beast.
I had been so excited about this movie but unfortunately it was a fail. It isn’t able to quite capture the magical enchantment of the original animation instead we are left with a love story between two characters who seem far more engrossed with themselves than they do with each other.
This movie will not grow to be a tale as old as time because it will not stand the test of time but we still have the original and that will never disappoint.
