This game is the successor to King of Tokyo, a game is beloved by many. Whilst I liked King of Tokyo, it bugged me that there was no board for when monsters are outside of Tokyo...a minor point, perhaps, but that's why I like that King of New York has a board that features all monsters in different areas of NYC. Additionally, this game alters the dice and includes buildings, that can be destroyed to give health or other benefits...sometimes, destroying a building can hurt you too. This additional optionality to the game made this a must play for me and some friends for about a year. I can't say it's had great staying power beyond this, but I have kept the game to teach my son when he is old enough, as I'm sure he will enjoy it too.

Santorini rocks as a 2-player board game!
Many years ago I was lucky enough to have my wife come along with me on a business trip to Greece. It was the first time either of us had been to Greece and we looked forward to seeing many sites over a few extra days after the business event ended.
One of the things we really wanted to do was to visit one of the Greek Isles. At the top of my list was Santorini
Unfortunately, with the limited time we had, we could only make it to one island — Mykonos. Don’t get me wrong, we loved visiting Mykonos. I just wish we could have seen more. And ever since then I’ve longed for a visit to Santorini.
Well, playing the Santorini board game by Roxley Game Laboratory has only whetted my appetite to visit the popular Greek Isle even more!
I’ll tell you straight out that the game is fantastic!

The Classic
Who hasn't played monopoly? It's a fun, classic board game that almost everybody has heard of and attempted at some point. It takes a bit to get set up with your money, but after that, it's just rolling dice and traveling around the board. You're either buying or paying rent on properties you land on, you can trade with your friends, and it feels great when you finally win after playing for literal HOURS. The drawbacks, of course, is that you don't always finish the game because who has a full day to set aside to play a board game? It can get boring after a while. It can also get tense when your friends are building hotels on Boardwalk and Park Place, and all you have is Baltic Avenue and St. James Place.
However, if you have some time to kill and some sturdy, strong friendships you want to test, I highly recommend playing Monopoly.
