Absorb ( The Forgotten Affinities book 1)
By Analeigh Ford
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Earth. Psychic. Ritual. The three magical affinities. No mage has ever been chosen by all three…until now.
My name is Octavia Hadley, and I am the mage who broke the affinity ritual. I have been at the New York Academy of Mages for less than one day and the school board already wants to strip me of my powers.
It would be a whole lot simpler if it didn’t also mean giving up on them—the four mages that I got paired up with: Kendall, my best friend’s twin brother, Draven, the leather-clad ritual mage, Cedric, the principal’s son, and Flynn, the only other mage who also has more than one affinity.
The school board tells me I am mistake, but I know that isn’t right. This magic is mine, and I will find a way to keep it. My paired mages will fight beside me even if it means losing everything—so long as it means they don’t have to lose me too.
It was an ok book it needed some improvements in world building but the premise was good. I got slightly bored with the teenage love tryst especially in such a short space of time and not a very long book. But it was ok for YA.

This Mummy Needs To Be Put To Final Rest
I would describe this as a nose dive, at the start i was fully on board. I thought this was going to be the first tom cruise film i actually like, and then it go wierd... Boring... and just plain stupid.
The first half was good and fun, scary at times when the zombie outbreak happens...
And i have issues with a skeleton swimming, i feel like it would just sink and not be able to swim without skin to cup the water?

Returning home the Enterprise crew find Earth under attack from a probe transmitting a strange signal. Discovering what the signal is, the crew now on board a Klingon Bird of Prey, after the Enterprise was destroyed in the last movie, must travel back in time in order to save Earth. Back in 1980's America, they must acquire some Humpbacked whales and repower the ship, to return back, to their own time. The movie has some comical elements as well as some educational, it's a fun story that is not only entertaining, but also opens your eyes to some very real subjects of the modern world.

Kaz (232 KP) rated The Diving-bell and the Butterfly in Books

Being only 139 pages, this book may be short, but the impact it had, was enormous. This is an extraordinary memoir of a man who had a stroke and was left unable to move or talk. He dictated this novel to someone, using eye movements to indicate letters on an alphabetic board.
Whilst this book doesn't have a linear story as such, this is a beautifully written novel about the writer's day to day experiences in the hospital he is being treated in and, in the most mundane or saddest moments, there is humour and insight. This is a very interesting and poetic novel.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2277 KP) rated Mr. Monk Gets on Board (Mr. Monk #17) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When Natalie decides to attend a business conference on a cruise ship, she is surprised when Monk tags along. She's almost talked him into leaving when she over hears a murder plot. Can they stop it? Can they prove who the killer is?
A couple of times, this book got a little lost in the fun of Monk on the cruise ship, just like the series. And just like in the series, I enjoyed those moments. The mystery was still strong and the characters were great as always.
