Amazing abstract game with beautiful tiles
I tried this two player with my friend Brian the other day. It played quickly in about a 1/2 hour. I played very poorly and yet still loved it. He described the rules very well and yet I still didn’t grasp it until after I’d played two rounds. Now I feel dumb for not getting it. It is not easy but is still elegant. It makes my brain work in a completely different was from other board game. Which is what I love about BoardGames. There is so much subtle strategy in this game. Not just which tiles to take but when and which row to put them in and not painting yourself into corners. I see why it’s likely to win game of the year this year.

Michael Myers is back but unfortunately for him so is Laurie Strode!
Contains spoilers, click to show
I was on board with this as soon as I saw the trailer showing a more grizzled badass Laurie and that really is the highlight of this film. There are 2 twists in this film. 1 is quite unnecessary but leads to quite a glorious head squash which is the standout bit of gore. The second twist is excellent, paying homage to the original we get scenes similar to those from the first but roles reversed so that Laurie takes Michael's place and is stalking him showing her evolution from victim to prepared survivor/hunter. So yeah not a perfect film but a really solid effort. Hopefully leads to a new run of films with Laurie and her brood.

Fantastic Deckbuilder!
This game is a Marvel, scuse the pun! It is a well thought out, easy to learn deck builder which carries the theme of the Marvel Universe well. The art on the cards on the board is not only beautifully drawn, it is also exclusive to this game. You wont see it anywhere else.
The game scales well so it doesn't matter if you have 2 or 5 players, it works.
The quality of the components is good and the game comes with dividers to keep different cards separate.
Breaking down the game takes a bit of time if you want it organised for a quick set up the next time. That's the only downside I can see.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2526 KP) rated Murder in the Mystery Suite (Book Retreat Mysteries, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Jane Steward is trying to get more income to her family’s Storyton Hall, already famous as a retreat for readers. But her idea of a Mystery and Mayhem Week begins with a murder and a stolen book. What secrets will she uncover?
This book attempts to do something a little different with the cozy genre, and I’ll admit it took me a little while to get on board, but once I did I found I liked the idea. I also really did love the characters. Unfortunately, the plot came up short, leaving us with some loose threads and a plot hole or two along the way. I wanted to like this book more, but the weak plot really does bother me.

The Marinated Meeple (1853 KP) rated The Castles of Burgundy in Tabletop Games

Component quality isn't very good. (1 more)
More luck based than I would like
I give the game a 6, my wife gives it a 10, so we'll settle on a 7.
My wife adores this game, she's incredible at it, my parents love it... I'm the wet blanket. It's ranked very highly on board game geek, but yet i don't love this game myself. It's a cool concept with a very boring theme. I love the idea of owning a village in burgundy and placing castles and boat houses, but it doesn't really make me feel anything when I play, and I worry too much about the dice and how to make them actually work with what I need. This one isn't for me, but everyone else loves it so you shouldn't listen to me.
The Marinated Meeple (1853 KP) rated Blue Peg, Pink Peg in Podcasts

I really enjoy the way they talk about games.
This podcast isn't epic, but it does feel like friends you would have talking about games, they have foibles and aren't always polished but that adds to the genuineness of it. They obviously love to play games and all different kinds. They tend to focus on family and midweight games, but sometimes dabble in the heavy as well and obscure trivia. They added a new member when Whoop Whoop team droop left. Too early to judge how he fits in with the crowd, but he's been a friend for years so probably gonna be just fine. Give it a listen and once you get past the opening trivia, the game conversation usually starts. Usually.

Kirk Bage (1775 KP) rated Lust for Life (1956) in Movies
Mar 3, 2020
In yet another attempt to widen his range, Douglas was a surprising yet perfect choice to play tortured artist Vincent Van Gogh, in his 3rd and final Oscar nominated role. He was custom made to portray the wild passion and intensity of the artist, but it was his quiet moments of calm genius that really impressed. This time he lost the award to Yul Brynner for The King and I, as big, colourful productions began to dominate; also watching on as co-star Anthony Quinn picked up best supporting actor. There are rumours Douglas was less than happy to lose out, and he made a personal vow to soon enter the arena in a big epic that would sweep the board… Although many believe his artistic star had peaked here with the more subtle Lust For Life.
