Mark Halpern (153 KP) rated Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) in Movies

A good sequel
Most sequel's leave bored or really disappointing but, in this case I was very happy with it. The movie is made to be more modern. Instead of a board game it is made into a video game and has great cast. 4 High School teens that are from 4 different cliques are given detention and find an old video game and of course hook it up to an old tv and get sucked into the game. Well their lives do a complete 180 for characters of the the game (the nerd who is weak is strong and fearless, The jock who was strong is the small and weak sidekick, The popular pretty girl is now a fat older man lol and the shy girl is now the kick ass hot girl) and have to work together to use their particular set of skills to return the jewel of Jumanji to it's rightful place. The movie is filled with a great cast who is not only funny but have to kind of change their own selves to mimic the kids that they have become. To me Jack Black has the greatest range and to play the character he does shows how far he can go.

Haley Mathiot (9 KP) rated The Serpent (The Gameshouse, #1) in Books

The Gameshouse is a novella series by Claire North, author of Touch and several other books. She is a stunning writer with a distinct and mysterious writing style that engages the reader and forces them to think harder and harder with every passing page.
The first novella, The Serpant, proved a beautiful introduction to the world in which the Gameshouse resides, which is our world, except not. It’s a world in which there are cunning, clever, devious, and skilled players using our world as a game board. The game might be an election, a war, or something more simple such as hide and seek. But they play for more than money. They play for years of their lives, their love of the taste of strawberries, a memory, the affections of the person they last loved, the richness of the color purple… or something more detrimental: if I win, you take my asthma. If you win, I take your constant migraines.
The story begins with a beautiful portrait and backstory of our main character Thini, who later becomes a crucial piece in a bigger game. Her game is played, the game is won, and the world goes on.

Quick, Easy and Fun!
Zombie Dice! A quick game so heres a quick review!
Easy to play with simple rules and always a party favourite from my experience. The rules are as follow (base game only):
- shake up the cup of dice and blindly pick three dice
- roll the three dice chosen and try to collect brains
- If your not feeling lucky, bank any brains you have and end your go
- 3 shots and your go is over, losing any brains you havent banked
- Any runners must be used for the next roll if you decide not to end your go, so if you have one runner, you use that one runner and blindly pick two more dice from the bucket to roll your next go.
- the first to 13 brains collected wins the game (or round if you play it multiple times in a row)
Its so simple to learn, so much fun to play and can easily be adapted into a drinking game (just saying). I highly recommend Zombie Dice for a quick and easy game and a cheaper option compared big board games that take hours to play.

Mothergamer (1568 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Dragon Quest Builders 2 in Video Games

Fun Builds, Great Story
I love the game because it is done in a way that makes building fun and tells a great story. It also improved on issues that the first game had such as having to build your base when monsters would destroy it. They made the villagers more interactive with your builder so that they actually help you rebuild the base if it gets destroyed and will help build things on their own as well. The combat system is improved and you actually have a companion with you helping you fight. You can be as creative as you want with your own island and you can play co-op with friends which is a lot of fun. You can also share your builds with other people in the game via a notice board and can see their builds as well with the snapshot feature. You can take a picture of your builds and share it. It's interesting to see how creative everyone gets with their builds. The game is so much fun to play and time passes very quickly as you build, fight monsters, and follow the story. Overall, it is a great game that is fantastic for everyone.

Lenard (726 KP) rated Ready or Not (2019) in Movies

The Le Domas family fortune was made in the card game, board game, and gaming industry. Anyone wishing to join the family, particularly through marriage, must play a game on the night after the wedding. It can be any game, but chosen by an unseen entity, presumable Mr. Le Bail, the man who miraculously found fortune for the family. Some get checkers or canasta, others got Global Thermonuclear War or Hide-and-Seek. As anyone who's seen the trailer knows the newest bride chooses Hide-and-Seek, a grown-up version of The Most Dangerous Game where the ultra-rich hunt their prey. If Grace can survive the night, it is believed that the family will lose everything. Who can Grace trust to help her? The mother who seems to truly believe love will conquer the glares Grace gets? Grace's husband who tries to protect Grace, but will lose everything if Grace survives? Or will it be Daniel who is secretly in love with Grace and trapped in a loveless marriage to a heartless gold digging carp? Ready or Not is a great premise, but a hard movie to turn into gold. Someone would have to sell their soul and future heir's soul to the Devil to succeed.
