An okay YA
I ummed and ahhed about the rating for this book, round up to 4 or not but I’m sticking where I am. There is so much I liked about this book, not least the fantastic male POV narration.
Henry is the narrator of this tale and he was the biggest strength of this book. A young man experiencing his first love but someone who was the best friend a girl could have. Grace was complex, understandably so. Her issues prompt compassion but the impact on Henry is difficult and there was just something about her that from Henry’s perspective, saddened me.
For me, this book had two phases, a stronge first half or more and a weaker latter part. I think there’s is a realism in where this book journey goes but I cannot deny a little dissatisfaction. However, the writing was generally strong and the characters interesting. I would definitely read more from this author.

Moral.
The Cosy Christmas Teashop.
‘Life would take you on it’s jouney through love, hurt, joy, pain, and all the shades of emotion in between. But you had to hold on to the happy, find a way through, and reach for the stars’ (Caroline Roberts).
The Cosy Christmas Teashop is a recommended book to an extent, attributable to the personal, emotional attachments that develop throughout the book owing to Caroline Roberts depiction of individuals’ scenarios.
Progressing from this, Caroline Roberts concluded The Cosy Christmas Teashop, portraying to a considerable extent, the moral of the story, despite it being made evident throughout the book also. This was advantageous as it allowed you to put the book itself into perspective from a prospective real-life scenario that will affect numerous individuals throughout the year, encompassing Christmas also.
Conversely, there were multiple mistakes throughout this book regarding spelling and grammar, and therefore lessens the conclusive rating I have allocated to The Cosy Christmas Teashop.

Being only 139 pages, this book may be short, but the impact it had, was enormous. This is an extraordinary memoir of a man who had a stroke and was left unable to move or talk. He dictated this novel to someone, using eye movements to indicate letters on an alphabetic board.
Whilst this book doesn't have a linear story as such, this is a beautifully written novel about the writer's day to day experiences in the hospital he is being treated in and, in the most mundane or saddest moments, there is humour and insight. This is a very interesting and poetic novel.
My Rating ****

I'd give the story itself a three, but I'm rating the book lower because the author does not seem to understand how it is nearly impossible to have as many issues as Charlie does including the depression, drinking, and occasional drug use, and still be able to get straight A's. Although I still had a handful of potheads in my AP and Honors classes in high school, they were all B and C students who did the minimum amount of work needed to get by.
The book is okay, but you're better off reading Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson or Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.

OKAYYYYY
I knew I would love this book before I even opened it. It just has everything I love about fiction and I love both Alex and Henry and it was ever so happy, and if you know me you know I LOVE happy.
Don't get me wrong I did love this and I absorbed it and couldn't put it down but there were just a few little things that I didn't love which is what's holding me off on giving it the 5-star rating I really wanted to give it but it's still definitely my favourite book I've read this year.

High production values
I haven't read the book so I can't compare to that. It's a well made film with a big production and talented cast. Tiny bit surprised at being a 12a rating, it's basically teenagers fighting to the death by killing each other off! Also a theme similar to many films, @Insurgent (2015) Battle Royale, @The Condemned (2007) . So not that original but decent enough to check it out.

I hesitated before rating this book. It was not as bad as two stars but I am not sure it is worthy of three, so let us say it is two and a half. Whilst I liked the Jane Austen/Pride and Prejudice references, I am not really a fan of Chick Lit and at times found it a bit tedious. However there were times when I got into the story line; I did read it in one day after all...

3.5 stars.
I'll be honest and say that I've been eyeing this book for a while. I like to read short stories between, and sometimes during, my longer books to break them up a little to keep boredom away.
I finally caved and downloaded it yesterday and you know what? I actually enjoyed the story.
It would have been a four star rating if the ending hadn't been so quick. If it had been drawn out a little more I'd have been happier.
