Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2232 KP) rated Once Upon a Crime in Books
Mar 9, 2018
This book takes the characters to New York City where they find fairy tale characters living in hiding. While they try to heal a friend, they get involved in a murder. This series may be for kids, but I just love the creativity each book shows.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2232 KP) rated The Inside Story (The Sisters Grimm, #8) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Sabrina and Daphne Grimm are chasing a villain through the Book of Everafter hoping to stop him from realizing his master plan. The beginning was repetitive, but the second half really grabbed my interest and set things up nicely for the final book in the series.

AT (1676 KP) rated Nabari No Ou Book 2 in Books
Sep 2, 2018 (Updated Sep 3, 2018)
Book 2 of the Nabari No Ou series begins to dive further into the actual plot. You get background information about a few of the main characters, as well. The pace is about the same as Book 1. The story actually moves forward in this book, and you find out more about what the secret art is, and why people are trying to hunt it down.

BookInspector (124 KP) rated The Doll (Vanessa Michael Munroe, #3) in Books
Sep 24, 2020
Once you start with the series, the only way is forward. So here you go, third book of Vanessa Munroe’s series and of course I liked the book but could’ve been better? The answer is yes. Even though the book had interesting characters it was quite slow paced and Munroe’s amazing abilities didn’t shine that much. Some of Monroe’s decisions were predictable and not very smart. Badford was doing great job in this book and he was the active one this time. I missed the action from Munroe’s side, as she was really passive this time. “The doll” itself was sometimes very annoying and stupid, and it was sad to see Munroe to put up with it. It was interesting and easy to read this book but it was missing the “wow” factor.
Lindsay (1717 KP) rated The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving in Books
Dec 11, 2020
The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving is a really good book to add to your Advent calendar. Are you struggling with your child or children with the meaning of giving rather than receiving? Well, this one does the job.
This book is a favorite of mine not cause it to deal with Christmas or the meaning of giving. I grew up with The Berenstain Bears series. I still love them. I love the meaning behind the book. It is better to give than to receive.
This tells a story through Brother and Sister Bear's eyes. This book and many in the series teaches a valuable lesson for children. I love that. The pictures are done well. There something that changes the cubs. This book is good to have on your child's bookshelves.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated My Blood Approves (My Blood Approves, #1) in Books

This book was okay. It felt like it was trying to be "Twilight" too much for me to give it any higher score than 3 stars. There were lots of type-os which drive me CRAZY! However it was good enough that I am currently reading the 2nd book in the series.
Debra Anne (1 KP) rated Anne of Green Gables in Books
Feb 5, 2018
My all time favorite book series! I read this book for the first time as a little girl, and I revisit it often even now as an adult. So cuddle up with a bosom friend, or a kindred spirit, and read it aloud together, there's more scope for the imagination that way!
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2232 KP) rated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Books
Mar 9, 2018
A reread. This book is a little slow, but it definitely picks up at the end, and so much of the rest of the series springs off of what we learn here.
