Jaime Lynch (18 KP) rated Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in Books
Jul 12, 2018
Slow start, great end
This book was sort of a paradox. You couldn’t wait to see how it all ended, but you never wanted the series to end. It was a bit of a slow start and middle. But that is what the author was going for. She wanted to create that experience and she was successful. The end picked up quick and then...all done! So sad... Glad that she randomly comes out with the support books like Fantastic Beasts to keep us junkies going.
Aasiyah Sidat (34 KP) rated Stone Mattress: Nine Wicked Tales in Books
Jul 5, 2018
Atwood is the queen of thought-provoking, witty writing.
Stone Mattress is a collection of 9 stories based on old people. There is a mixed bag of characters from an author of a fantasy series to a disembodied hand that is madly in love.
All the stories in the book feature the characters looking back on their lives.
I really enjoyed the stories which had themes of romance, horror and brilliantly executed wit.

I loved this book and series so much and honestly, there are very few writers who know how to world build as well as Laini Taylor does and her writing just sucks you into this amazing universe she created.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone hooks you in from beginning to end with its amazing characters and a plot that is engaging and just so well constructed even though you know where it's going you still just can't help but want to go along for the ride.

Alicia S (193 KP) rated The Rocker Who Betrays Me (The Rocker #11) in Books
Sep 28, 2018
Oh. My. God. I LOVED this book more than I can say. This was the first I've read in the series and I will sure as hell be going back for more!? The writing was fabulous.. unlike your typical rock story and I was hooked right from the start and did not want to put it down. I loved Z and Anna and their connection was both beautiful and heartbreaking. Passionate love scenes, loss, hope, and undying love... An absolute must-read - Highly recommended!!

Dair was my favourite from the beginning anyway so this book just swept me off my feet and took my breath away! I'm still so hooked with this series and theres no sign of me ever stopping. I could read it every day and never get tired. The characters are still developing in such a fantastic way and they are learning how to be together and help Haret! I know they will succeed in the end and I'm glad I can read the journey the whole way!
EmersonRose (320 KP) rated Saga in Books

I have not read a lot of comics. I did get very into Valerian and Laureline and the new Labyrinth comic, but both I got into because of already being a fan of the story from the movie versions. Getting into this media, both of my brother (avid comic book readers) each suggested some comics for me. My younger brother suggested saga. I really enjoyed reading it. I found the story, style, voice, magic, and characters to all work great. I will continue reading this series soon!
Eleanor (1463 KP) rated The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking #1) in Books

This book just never clicked for me, I listened to it via audiobook read by Humphrey Bower and maybe the unusual writing style linked to the world-building just didn't come across well to me. This could not, however, make up for the unappealing main character. His disdain for his own dog early on was never going to work for me.
I found the story repetitive although I suspect this will improve as a series I'm not sure I want on for the whole ride.
