The film was alright but it was so different to the book, I know that they have to adapt books to fit the script for the screen but so much was missed out or altered. In the book there are several characters who only appear for a while but they have a main part to play in the second and third book, these people did not appear at all in the film, that is probably why the other two have not yet been made as it would now be difficult to incorporate these characters.

Entertaining but flawed
Unusually, this is a book that I’d rate about on par with the film adaptation. As with the film, this is an entertaining read and fairly well written. The basic plot is the same although there have been a few tweaks made for the film - some better, some worse. I much prefer the ending in the book to the film, it’s a little more depressing and a lot less Hollywood (unsurprisingly). I don’t really have much to say about this book, it’s a quick read and quite good, and plods along at a fairly decent rate, it’s just nothing massively special.

Excellent Thriller
It's probably the 2nd best film from M.Night Shyamalan, after 6th sense. It has a nice comic book element to it as well.

Another King masterpiece
I'm ashamed to say that I've only just read The Shining for the first time, and I'm regretting taking so long to get around to it.

It's a brilliant and creepy supernatural tale, with great characters and development. It works well by switching between the viewpoints of each of the 4 main characters, and the transformation and depth of Jack especially is very well written. The plot itself is very interesting without verging on the side of bizarre (which a lot of supernatural/horror stories tend to do).

I've read King really hates the Kubrick film adaptation and now having read the book, i can see why. The film is almost a bare bones version of the book with barely a passing resemblance to the original story. Character development and depth is so prevalent in this book yet majorly lacking in the film.

If you like the film, read the book to see how it's really meant to be done.

There are some great quotes in this book, some great one-liners. I was more satisfied with the book than the actual film. The characters are very easy to like in their own individual ways.

This book is so easy to read and so enjoyable! I read it in one sitting whilst lazing by the pool on holiday. Such a great book! The characters are so great. I would definitely recommend! I can't wait to see the film - hopefully it's as good as the book :)

Very unique story
If you haven't watched the film yet then my advice is, don't watch it. Stick to the book. I fortunately read the book first before the film like I do with every movie that's made from a book. The movie changed alot of the characters, very disappointing. The book however, I absolutely loved reading this! I've never read such an imaginative and creative book, and not just the plot either, the way the book is presented and the author went to the effort of creating photographs that could be passed off as real. Very real. I would happily read this again. Can't wait to start on the next book.

Do these people read the books
When it comes to the books. I love this series till Alligent. First book amazing premise, Second Book good but predictable Third well don't talk about it rushed and fractured and tried to hard to be clever and ended up failing. However this is a film review

Divergent movie first half was close to book second half changed for Hollywood glam
Insurgent film Just went for Hollywood glam and through a lot of the plot out the window if you want a action movie don't give it the same name as a book if your not going to keep the premise.

I think I was emotionally stumped in relation to this book. I felt nothing at all. In fact that's a slight lie, the last two or three pages were quite emotional. I think this is something I'd prefer to watch as a film than to read as a book.
