Better then I expected
This film is an amazing addition to the Harry Potter movies. I thought the story line was amazing aswell as all the links to the hp series such as all the creatures that had been mentioned in them but not seen, as well as all the new ones that were added from the fantastic beasts book. I'm definatly looking forward to the crimes of grindelwald!

Meh
So this was a REALLY good book in so many ways but I can't help but feel majorly disappointed with it. Anytime I mentioned to anyone that I was about to read it or was reading it said 'Oh my god it's amazing' and I heard it so many times that when I finished the book I felt like the end was missing. Like someone had pulled the remaining pages out of it. I don't know if I'm being really harsh about it but the book just ended. I felt like it was just a series of events.
The idea behind the book had me interested. I thought it was such an amazing plot but I just felt like there was zero point to the book. There was just a begining, middle and an end. And I really wanted to say that I enjoyed it as well. No wonder I've never been able to get through the film.

Mediocre
After reading the blurb, I was excited when I first saw this film pop up on my recommendation list. Despite this, the film fell short of my expectations.
The actors were well cast, and believable in their emotions and actions. Striving to make their way in a world deemed uninhabitable by pollution. However the plot line was slow moving and lacked depth. My interpretation of a good sci-fi, is a story that makes the unbelievable, believable and in The case of IO, I did not get this feeling- if they knew higher ground was habitable, why was more of the population not saved? Why was the colonisation of Mars not considered, rather than take the struggling remains of humanity to far reaching unknowns? In actuality the film raised more questions than it answered.
The film was slow going with periods of melancholic inactivity. I believe the film would be better as a book, although comparisons could be made with Z for Zachariah.
Overall, this did not make it to my must watch again list.

I am Jack's aching liver
An absolute classic, with the film being completely faithful to the book. Chuck Palahniuk's writing style is uber-cool, and totally macabre, describing disturbing situations in a nonchalant way. Obviously it's not the same if you know the ending already but either read it or watch it.

Snooze fest
I decided to watch this film because i enjoy horrors and the trailer made it look good. However i watched an hour of it then has to turn it off as it was extremely boring and slow paced. I did go back to it the next day to finish it as i wanted to know how it ended. I hoped it would pick up and be scary but sadly it wasnt. There where bits that seemed like they were supposed to be scary but they just weren't. The story seemed interesting but it left a lot of questions and didnt explain what was going on. As its based on a book i feel like the book may be better. However i havent read the book.

Watching a novel.
I'm not sure if I have ever been disappointed that a movie follows it's source material so closely. I guess there if a first time for everything. Frankenstein is a story that has been retold so many times in so many different ways that one might wonder what the 1994 film had to offer. The answer is, not much.
The problem is director Kennth Branagh doesn't bring anything to this film as a director. It feels like everyone is going through the motions to do a straight adaptaion. There is really no energy here at all. It's not the acting is bad, but it lacks charisma all the way around.
Nothing stand out, there is no geuine fear here and no sense of drama, which might be unfair to say.

I stumbled across this film on Netflix and after seeing Gnomeo and Juliet and being impressed with that I decided to give it a go. I was expecting it to be a remake of the Christmas film Home Alone. I believe that was the original intention. Instead, the protagonist Chloe has recently moved into a new home with her mum and after travelling around and moving schools finds it difficult to make friends and keep them. She discovers a necklace in a secret room in the house and removed it. Later she discovers that the gnomes left in her house are alive and they need the necklace back. With the help of her nerd friend Liam, they combat both high school popular girls and aliens and save the world. Whilst the film does have some comedy in parts, it wasn't as humourous as I was expecting. It is a children's film however and there is an underlying message of 'dont judge a book by it's chsracter', 'be friends with who you want to be friends with' and the ultimate one 'be kind'. I also liked the fact that Chloe was glued to her iPhone and then when push come to shove she had to part with it. I think it gave a good message to modern society today of how absorbed we become with technology (she says writing this review on her smart phone). Anyway, it was a very good film and I thoroughly enjoyed it but it wasn't what I expected in the slightest.
