As I said, 'The Girl With All the Gifts' is slow but it uses this pace to let us know about the new world, the zombies and the other characters. The scenery is both beautiful and harsh as the characters travel through the now overgrown city of London and the visual effects are built on by the eerie soundtrack.
If you have read the book then you should find that the film is close to the main story, of course the film cuts out some of the back story's and there are some scenes missing but over all the film does well and manages to show how the events of the story change some of the characters (although even this is a bit lacking from the book but that is too be expected) and, over all the film does manage to get the feel of the book.
As I said, 'The Girl With All The Gifts' does not really go for gore so, if you want to see lots of action and people getting eaten then this isn't really for you. 'The Girl With All the Girts' focus more on what lies ahead, both for the reaming humans and for the zombies who will be left and the answer is bleak.
So, 'The Girl With All the Gifts' is a slow, story based zombie film with an interesting, well thought out take on the popular monster.

This book was definitely more action packed than the last two. I was reading it as if I was watching an action film. I couldn't put the book down I really wanted to see what happened and how they got out of all this. The last fee scenes in the docks I could really see in my minds eye. I felt like I was actually there watching the drama unfold.
Charlotte grew in this book as well as she really had to trust her gut instinct and also other people. She had to put a lot of trust in other people.
I had a whole scenario in my head on how the book was going to end and I was am so glad I was incorrect. I couldn't of been more wrong. For minute towards the end I was worried I was not going to enjoy the ending but I did.
The author has another book in the Morcambe series. Again it has some of the same characters and as much as I enjoyed reading the initial book I decided to take a break and reading something else.

The film was actually engaging and interesting, and I can watch it over and over again. I feel as though it's a good adaptation, and, if it got me to actually like the story, it did it's job.

The first about 1/3 of the book follows the Disney film pretty much to the letter, and without surprising anyone too much that is when the story changes.
In the film Aladdin gets the lamp… in this book he doesn’t (I won’t write “spoiler” as that bit is written on the front cover) and needless to say the camel dung hits the fan.
Where I think people might not like this book is the style of writing. Without being derogatory to the style this is very fanfictiony. You know those AU stories where one thing has changed? Well, that. At times the language is a bit too modern, it IS set in old Agrabah afterall.
I can see where the author tried to go with the plot, and while maybe not the most highbrow retelling of the story, it also wasn’t as bad as the previous reviews I’d read made it out to be. Certainly not a kids story (a tad gory, character death warning, violence etc) but a logical enough route for the bad guy winning.
Don’t go into this book expecting an epic Disney tale and you might well enjoy it. The author has rewritten Beauty and The Beast and Sleeping Beauty to follow this one, and I’m going to give them a read as well.
