David McK (3663 KP) rated Enola Holmes 2 (2022) in Movies
Dec 8, 2022
Enola Holmes, as a character, was someone I had never heard of before the 2020 Netflix film of the same name.
Unlike her older brother Sherlock . Or even the oldest child of the family (she's the youngest) Mycroft Holmes.
Yes, as in *that* Sherlock Holmes.
Anyway, I do remember watching that first film and finding it entertaining enough, even if I don't remember all the particulars (aside from a lot of 4th-wall breaking talking to the screen going on).
That's not really that much of a hindrance to this one, with the key events given a quick recap at the start of the film - I also have to say that the frequency of the 4th wall breaking seems to have been cut back a bit (thankfully).
This movie takes the (real) story of the matchstick girls strike of 1888 as its basis, with Enola investigating the disappearance of a worker from that factory in a case that, as time progresses, starts to entwine more and more with that which her brother Sherlock is working on, eventually culminating in a (very) famous antagonist coming to light ...
(even if I did call it roughly 3/4s of the way through)

Merissa (13585 KP) rated Feline Valentine (A Witch’s Night Out, #4) in Books
Dec 17, 2018 (Updated May 20, 2023)
Another scorcher in the Witch's Night Out series, this one being the turn of Shelley, the house-arrested earth mage. She is busy drooling over her new neighbour but doesn't think that she will ever get the chance to speak with him, as she doesn't leave home. Adrien thinks that his neighbour is an old lady, so when his brother hands him an invite for a one-night stand at the house next door, he accepts it with a smile. He plans on taking some chocolate and champagne to make the 'old girl's day' and then leaving. So imagine his surprise when it is Shelley who opens the door.
There is action and humour aplenty in this short but sweet and hot novella. I loved the rapport that was between Shelley and Adrien. With a would-be burglar and an interfering brother and friend in the mix, this is guaranteed to make you smile. Definitely recommended.

Merissa (13585 KP) rated The Hunter's Moon (The Secret Warrior #1) in Books
May 20, 2023
The Hunter's Moon is a young adult paranormal romance that starts with Morgan and her brother, Jimmy, on the run from mobsters who are trying to kill them. They shouldn't have been found as they are in the Witness Protection Program, but hey, they were. The reasons for this become clear as the book progresses.
This is a smooth-flowing book where the seventeen-year-old main female is thrust into the world of the paranormal, not knowing a single thing about it. Her ten-year-old brother is a delight to read about and certainly deserves the nickname of Batboy. Her doubts and fears about what is to come are completely relevant, and not out of character. The supporting characters are mainly a quiet bunch, with the spotlight on Okema, Miriam and Hawthorne. That being said, this is a series with a whole bunch of potential and I can't wait to read more. Definitely recommended for all fans of YA/Paranormal.

Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated The Legend (Sons of Texas, #3) in Books
May 7, 2019
This is the third book in the series by this author. These books should be red in order, as this is the continuing story. Each one of the books is about a different brother but brought together to make one bigger story. Amazing characters you will just fall in love with. A fantastically written story that will keep you hooked to the last page. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2460 KP) rated Bundle of Trouble (A Maternal Instincts Mystery, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Just as she is going into labor, Kate Connolly learns her brother-in-law, George, is missing and may be a murder victim. While trying to juggle becoming a mother, Kate also tries to learn what is really going on with George. I found the scenes between mother and baby heart warming and the plot intriguing. I didn't want to put it down, and can't wait to read the next one.

Lindsay (1779 KP) rated Brush of Angel's Wings (Heaven On Earth #2) in Books
Feb 15, 2018
This was fun to read and see that an angel speaks in this book. It there to help two people. It was sweet to see the two angels battle in the book. The funny things they do to get the two people to listen. I really like it with Jordan that he get different things.
It was kinda different for Rachel. Though Rachel need to understand what happened to her brother and learn about forgiving. You would be surprise with all the things that happen and what comes of it.

I use Facebook to keep up with friends and groups that I belong too. You can get addicted and look every few hours to see what people have posted and people run their life by it and get upset if they cannot get on. It is very useful for information but I don't like that it also reads your computer so if you are looking up something on google for example it then appears on your Facebook page as an advert. Big Brother is watching you all the time.
