"It’s quite interesting how a film like this can work so well. The acting style is so uptight, but Kubrick creates such curiosity for the images and the structure and the narrative—I don’t know how he did it. I’ve rewatched it many times. There’s one scene that inspired the monkey imitation scene in The Square. A boy is taking his kid brother into the room where his mom is playing the cembalo. He’s wearing these wooden shoes, violating the strict etiquette of the room, and they start to fight. They actually used handheld cameras for that scene. When you think of Barry Lyndon, you don’t think of handheld cameras!"

"This is one of my favorite Ozu movies. On Ozu’s gravestone is the word mu, which in Japanese means “emptiness.” For me, emptiness and silence are very familiar, important family members, and I think the forms come out of emptiness. In the way Ozu makes movies, I feel deeply aware of emptiness. There is something very wise, quiet, and powerful in it. So Ozu for me is like a big brother who helps me remember from time to time the really important things about the form of moviemaking, which have nothing to do with manipulating the audience or being clever. Form can have something to do with truth."

A story of brotherly love... (0 more)
Ten year old Marty loves his brother Steve. But Steve has been acting very weird recently and Marty is about to reveal the shocking truth as to why...

Written from the perspective of Marty this is a well written and gruesome little novel of how situations can quickly escalate and spiral out of control. Fast paced, the darkest of humour and plenty of blood and gore keep this twisted story going at full pelt for its brief 137pages. Highly recommended for those that have a strong disposition and cast iron gut!
Now where did I leave my bowling bag?

After the original Dr. Frankenstein and his son, now comes the other brother taking up where they left off. In order to rid the town of the Frankenstein curse, the townspeople decide to level the famous castle. The mission backfires as this releases the monster which had been encased in its rubble.

Now freed he again is the stooge of Ygor who now has a new plan.

The formulas which worked in the previous films starts to feel a little tired here in the 4th film. Still enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as the first 2 films.

What happened Stephen King?
Contains spoilers, click to show
When you think of Stephen King you think of Horror, Pennywise, Salems Lot, Creepshow etc etc.
Not when you watch this. The plot just seems so out of touch for Stephen King. Not his 'norm' at all. Maybe a good thing?

The plot? ODD.
At first I thought I was watching a young, pregnant couple. No, brother and sister. They seem too "involved" to be anything but romantic partners.
Then theres the strange, out of the blue characters (that do not blend in with the storyline), you meet along the way.
You will scream at the ending, all that for nothing.
