Aven and Thor may just be my new favorite couple. Their story is one that is just so very sweet, they overcome obstacles and seem to understand each other in ways I hope everyone does with their spouse. Thor's brother Haakon is a great example of the prodigal son in a certain way. Haakon doesn’t always make good choices, but I will say he grew up well (Not giving anything away here). I believe that no matter what we do in life we can still change, ask forgiveness from those we have hurt and build life long relationships with those people. Joanna Bischof makes the idea that we can all be forgiven no matter what readily apparent and encouraged throughout the book either by main or secondary characters.

"When I was a little older I came across Spacemen 3. It was a time of my life that feels quite vivid now – before Supergrass and even before [pre-’Grass outfit] The Jennifers, so I was about 12 maybe. It’s that time when you’re crossing over from cheesy chart stuff: I think I’d bought a Huey Lewis & The News single just a few years before because of Back To The Future and my brother had Rock Me Amadeus by Falco; that end of the 80s when things were pretty ropey. So Playing With Fire was a huge album for me. It was very intense and drawn-out, there were no three-minute pop songs, and it didn’t play by the rules. I just thought, and still do think, it was such a cool record."

"I loved The Prodigy and obviously this album The Fat Of The Land was a big deal for us. I was about 13 years old when it came out and I’d already come up on their other two records, but this was just ‘whoa’. It was the best thing I’d ever heard. I can remember my brother talking to me about ‘Climbatize’ and saying that he got stoned to it and I remember thinking how cool that was. The production is just phenomenal across all their records to be honest. “It felt like a new world to me then, this deeper dance thing; even though it’s not even dance music, really, but that was my childish interpretation of it. I loved that squall and I just thought they were a great band."

The Berenstain Bears and the Joy of Giving is a really good book to add to your Advent calendar. Are you struggling with your child or children with the meaning of giving rather than receiving? Well, this one does the job.

This book is a favorite of mine not cause it to deal with Christmas or the meaning of giving. I grew up with The Berenstain Bears series. I still love them. I love the meaning behind the book. It is better to give than to receive.

This tells a story through Brother and Sister Bear's eyes. This book and many in the series teaches a valuable lesson for children. I love that. The pictures are done well. There something that changes the cubs. This book is good to have on your child's bookshelves.
