When she returns to Palestine to her husband’s family in order to divorce him, she meets his brother and falls in love. However, this is the start of more problems for her, as she becomes radicalised.
It did seem hard to believe that she had quite so many problems and terrible things happen to her, but I’ve since read that Nahr’s character is an amalgamation of several real-life stories. So, in a way, it reassured me that one person couldn’t experience ALL of these things, whilst at the same time I felt so sad that anyone could experience ANY of these things.
I couldn’t put this book down, though. It’s a fascinating, yet horrifying novel, and not something that I’ve read about in fiction before - and I’m so glad that I have.

Katherine of Aragon the true Queen ( Six Tudor Wives)
By Alison Weir

A Spanish princess. Raised to be modest, obedient and devout. Destined to be an English Queen.
Six weeks from home across treacherous seas, everything is different: the language, the food, the weather. And for her there is no comfort in any of it. At sixteen-years-old, Catalina is alone among strangers.
She misses her mother. She mourns her lost brother.
She cannot trust even those assigned to her protection.
KATHERINE OF ARAGON. The first of Henry's Queens. Her story.
History tells us how she died. This captivating novel shows us how she lived.
It took me a bit longer than normal to finish this book I really enjoyed it but came away feel so sad for Katherine. I’m fascinated with this period of history and she is one queen who always hits the heart when I read her story. This is one of the best ones I’ve read so far and knowing Alison kept as close as possible to history made me even more sad. Something about the princesses of Wales they always get dealt a hard blow by the monarchy. Overall it was a beautifully written version of her. Looking forward to reading Anne’s next.
Merissa (12055 KP) rated Lifting the Veil (Sophie Masterson/ Dixon Security Series #1) in Books

This is a witty and fast-paced story that is only the beginning of a series that I am already hooked on. Sophie is a great character and is not prepared to take any c**p from anyone, whether it's her brother or her lover. I adored Jack and thought he made a great partner for Sophie. I personally would love to see Marshall end up with bright, kooky and vivacious Amber as I think she would knock him right out of his suit but obviously, that's up to the author ;)
Full of surprises and action, this is one book that you won't want to put down. Definitely recommended. In fact, I've just gone and one-clicked books 2 and 3, Beyond the Veil and Veiled Intentions so that I can continue with this series.
I received this book from Reading Alley in return for a fair and honest review.
