David McK (3288 KP) rated Addams Family Values (1993) in Movies

Wednesday Addams smiles!!
The second (and better) of the two 1990 big screen adaptations of The Addams Family, this is the one also starring Joan Cusack, and with Uncle Fester falling in love with her 'Black Widow' serial killer as Morticia and Gomez welcome a new addition to the family, much to the jealousy of Wednesday and Pugsley, who end up off to a summer camp.
Wednesday Addams. Smiling.
That's probably the best scene of the film: either that, or the Thanksgiving Dinner stage play.

BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated From Dust and Ashes: A Story of Liberation (World War II Liberator #1) in Books
Jan 2, 2019
Europe is war torn and broken. But there is hope among the dust and ashes.
Tricia Goyer approaches World War II in a new light (for me at least). Beginning with the end of the war in Europe, we see the repercussions of the last 6 years of fighting.
Our three main characters include an American Sergeant, a wife of an SS guard, and a prisoner freed from the concentration camp Gusen. Sergeant Peter Scott is with the group of soldiers that liberated Gusen and the main camp Mauthausen. He finds friends and love in the least likely of places. Helen is struggling to make up for the wrongs her husband committed as a guard at the camp. Can she bring herself to forgive him for what he did? Michaela is on the road to recovery after spending years in the camps. Although it would seem that she has every right to hold on to bitterness and hate for all that she has been through, she chooses to trust in the Lord and forgive those that did her wrong.
I could not put this book down! This is by far one of the best books I have ever read. Tricia Goyer captured me from the minute I started reading. She is very vivid in her descriptions of the horrors found when the camps were liberated. I highly recommend this book, especially to anyone interested in WWII history. It sheds a whole new light on the war in Europe.
From Dust and Ashes is a beautiful story about forgiveness and the liberation that you receive in your spirit when you are lead by the Lord and forgiveness.
I purchased a copy of From Dust and Ashes for my personal library. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Gimm Woods is a good book. It tells the story somewhat of the fairy tales. Counselors come to help with children that are coming for summer camp. There are few kids coming for some fun. You and many people and kids know what the fairy tales are like now.
In Grimm Woods, you will find out, what happens in some fairy tales. There are twist and turns and surprises throughout the book. I think it is a good book. What I like about it is it keeps you guessing who and why things are happening. There are crimes that happen throughout the book. Some counselors body shows up.
There is a dark ending to the children stories that you once thought you knew. I was surprised by this when two counselors put on a play for summer camp children. D. Melhoff does a good job on this book. I would though think that parents would take cautiously and only allow their children to read this book if they are 15 plus and older. I will let parents decide for themselves.

Well written (3 more)
Likeable characters
Good story line
I like the fact that its a true story
Not sure how accurate some parts are (1 more)
At some points it seems to downplay the severity of the camp and the treatment of the prisoners
A Novel based on a true story
This book has received a massive hype about being amazing. So much so that I went over my usual budget on the purchase of a book to get a new hardback copy.
Although I read this book in a day, and did enjoy it, I hoped for a better insight into the life at the camp, and often found myself questioning whether certain things claimed in the book were true.
This was a good book, and I understand that some adaptations were made when converting it into a novel, but I think this has either been slightly overdone to play up the romance in the novel, or the lead character genuinely had a huge advantage over the other prisoners due to his role?
All in all, I am giving this a 7 because it was good, but doesn't quite reach the huge hype that it seems to have been given.

Original Horror reality gameshow
A very short 5 part Horror themed game show. 11 contestants spend 5 days at camp pleasant, which is more like Crystal Lake. They must complete various tasks to win money. What they don't win goes to the Killer fund. They can also compete to win clues to the killers identity and immunity from meeting a grisly end. Will they figure who the Killer is amongst them and win the money?
An original gameshow from the same people behind @Release the Hounds it also feels a bit like an old show called The Mole mixed with Big Brother. In between camp competitions can the contestants work out together who the Killer is? Some of the games are a bit silly and I'm not a fan of Big Brother style reality shows on the whole. However the aim of trying to guess who the Killer is and if they can remain undetected while the others try to figure it out is intriguing. So one for Whodunit fans, who don't remind a slight reality TV angle will enjoy this.
