Missy (4 KP) rated Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) in Movies

Definitely worth seeing!
I was absolutely thrilled to discover that I didn't have to sit through another beginnings story, seeing how many times that's already been covered in the past. Considering that this movie takes place after what happened in Captain America: Civil War, I was surprised to see Peter Parker acting so new and somewhat inexperienced in the role of Spider-Man. I would have loved a little less talk and definitely some more action but, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and can't wait for the next!

Good but not quite Marvellous
I was looking forward to this film to find out about Captain Marvel before Avengers Endgame arrives. I don't know much about the comics so from that point of view it's all new to me. The film is good and runs at a good pace with plenty of action. It follows a tried and tested Marvel formula the latest films have used. It's enjoyable but I don't think it's quite up there with the best origin story films or the Avengers series. Roll on to endgame!

Loved this movie, wow enjoyed it from start to finish and it didnt seem anywhere near 3 hours, loved the comedic elements to it, loved the closure for captain America, nice way to end his story, loved the emotional feel, especially for iron man, loved it 3000, understood the sacrifice black widow made, shame she didnt get the same treatment stark got but maybe that was due to her character getting a standalone movie after this whereas ironmans story is done, as I said great movie!!

classic Stories are timeless
As good as an audio book delivered to your phone
This is a great podcast, classic literature has stood the test of time for a reason. I found Captain Blood because of him, and it's now one of my favorite books of all time. He tends to select toward the horror side of things, but you can always find something you are interested in listening to. From Sherlock Holmes to Peter Pan. Herland to Pride and Prejudice. and lots of small stories in between.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2436 KP) rated Shark Island (Wiki Coffin Mysteries #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
This is the second book set aboard the US Exploration Expedition of 1838. This time Wiki Coffin is part of a small group set to check the water ahead for pirates. They don't find pirates, but they do find a boat in trouble. Before they can start with the repairs, the captain is murdered. The plotting was a bit uneven at times, but I really enjoy the characters and the unique setting.

LOVE THIS FILM!!!
I can watch this film every day for a week and still love it as much on the Sunday as I did on the Monday!
Robin Williams yet again MAKES this film! His battle with Captain Hook, and learning about his past...
It is funny, light hearted and a perfect film to watch with the family.
Also considering the time it was made, aside from the croc, the effects in this are really good! But I think that the croc looks fake on purpose... or is that just me?

Interesting way of introducing DC heroes & villains that wouldn’t fit the Arrow-verse
Finding its pace
Contains spoilers, click to show
Season 1 kinda felt like a slow build to cross-over episodes, season 2 firmly found its footing, replacing Rip with Sarah as captain. Rory becoming a little more likeable after Snart’s sacrifice. Reverse Flash as the baddie & continuing the characters story from The Flash was an interesting take. The team also become key characters in the cross-over rather than supporting The Arrow-verse

Sid Haig
Been watching this crazy movie and oh man it's good very gory which I like and I thought house of 1000 corpses was nuts this is even more nuts than devils rejects. Shame about Sid Haig as he was unwell to do the movie but he does manage to film some scenes so we do get to see captain Spaulding. So we get introduced to wolfman a new character who's just as dangerous as Otis and baby. Definitely watch again
Micky Barnard (542 KP) rated Sully (2016) in Movies

Gripping
Sully was more than I expected. It superceded normal disaster movie/plane crash territory and took a narrative built on the personal story of Sully, the Captain of the plane.
This film viewed the crash from various perspectives and as a viewer you build an understanding of what happened and why. The experience of Sully himself and the first officer as their decision making and performance was investigated was rather brutal and made fascinating watching.
Tom Hanks played a believable character, controlled on the outside, doubting on the inside. Great performance.
