AVERLON is the first book in the Trident Cove series and it is a wonderful beginning to the series!

We start off with Faolan in the slave pits. This was a heavy start but really well-written. Faolan gets sold to a pirate captain who is paradoxical in many ways. He has bought a 'pleasure slave' and gets insanely jealous if anyone else touches him, BUT he doesn't want to touch him himself unless he is free of bruises and/or injuries. Being as most of the crew don't like the fact the Captain has a pleasure slave at all - when they have to wait for shore leave - this means Faolan has injuries most of the time, which is good for him!

Averlon is the Mer prince, together with his bodyguard and best friend, Revyn. When he feels the mate bond, he goes in search of his mate. His plan is to be captured by the pirates so he meets the Mer onboard. Of course, it isn't a Mer but Faolan instead.

There were a few examples of behaviour not making much sense - for example when they escaped from the boat. I couldn't understand why Averlon would jump off first, leaving his mate in possible peril, as the biggest danger was behind them (the pirates/captain etc.) not in front of them. I would also have liked Faolan to have had more of a voice at times. I felt he needed more time to understand becoming a Mer, but didn't say anything. I also understand he was in the honeymoon period, but I wish he had spoken up when Averlon went against what Faolan wanted. If there is a good reason it had to be done a certain way - great! Tell Faolan about it so the reader can find out too.

All in all though, this was a great book that made me realise I haven't read a good Mer story in far too long. I look forward to finding out what happened to Karn once they hit the water. Definitely recommended by me.

The Baudelaires are now aboard the Queequeg, a VFD submarine, looking for the sugar dish that Count Olaf is so desperate to find. On the Queequeg they meet Captain Widdershins and his step-daughter Fiona, as well as a return of everybody’s favourite – Phil from the lumber mill!

I loved this one! There’s Lewis Carroll references which is one way to get me really interested in a book, and it also got me thinking as one of his poems was used as a code and I was trying to work out what the message was! For some of the references used in these books, you definitely have to be an adult to fully get them, but when you do they are so clever!

The characters were brilliant in this one. Captain Widdershins was definitely strange but it gave me a laugh how he said ‘aye’ between every sentence. I also loved how Fiona started doing this too.

Even more was revealed about VFD in this one! There wasn’t as much as in the previous book, but I would still love to find out who J.S. is and why they are contacting the Queequeg.

There was yet another big plot twist towards the end of this one and I really want to see where it goes, as I can see it popping up again in the final books.

The books have really reached their best now! I’m reading them so fast because I just NEED to know everything!! I’m really obsessed now and won’t settle until I’ve finished the whole series.

Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay (2018)
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay (2018)
2018 | Action, Animation, Fantasy
The deadly, demented, and dangerous, and dysfunctional Task Force X has returned in “Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay”. The new animated film from Warner Bros Home Entertainment features the voice talents of Christian Slater, Vanessa Williams, Greg Grunberg, Tara Strong, and many others in an adult themed story which should delight fans of the series who thought the PG-13 approach of the live action film did not do the series the proper treatment they believed was due.

The worst of the worst have been recruited to recover a mysterious artifact and thanks to the explosives implanted in their heads; their control and compliance is expected.

Deadshoot, Harley Quinn, Copperhead, Captain Boomerang, Killer Frost, and others set out to complete their mission despite their usual issues with authority, the world, and each other. Naturally they are not unopposed as Captain Zoom, Banshee, and others stand in their way.

As the team fights others and amongst themselves, the body count piles up as this is not a kid’s movie and the blood and bullets fly frequently.

The animation and voice acting is first rate as you would expect from Warner Bros and the large cast works very well bringing their characters to life and infusing them with a complexity which is deeply engaging.

In another triumph for the studio, the movie delivers all that fans expect and more and let us hopes we will be seeing Task Force X again in the very near future.

All Aboard!!
Old Movie Revisited: Snowpiercer. One of those awesome apocalyptic films that makes you wanna ride a train. It reminded me of a bunch of other stuff thrown in there... Battlestar Galactica directed by Terry Gilliam on a train heading Beyond Thunderdome, there was even a scene where I felt Resident Evilish as well. (Our heroes go into a train car and encounter all these dudes with black masks on and giant axes, I instantly thought that Alice was about to come in and wipe them out.) So whats its about you ask, instead of looking it up your damn self? Its about a self-sustaining train that loops the world after global warming has sent us into another ice age. The train in seperated by class, workers way in the back, rich folk up front. And its all about a revolution to take over the train led by Captain America, Billy Elliot, and Kane from the Nostromo, to bust to the head of the train, and take over, I guess. Tilda Swinton gets to be called by her real name, because she's awesome, once again, and even Ed Harris pops up in there! "Nice." The best line is delivered by Captain America:"You know what I hate about myself? I know what people taste like. I know babies taste the best." However I can't really picture Chris Evans doing that, he looks to nice, The Capt America image has gone too far. Anyways, its a cool movie and definitely needs to be watched!! Filmbufftim on FB

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men - thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

This is my first reread of this series and I loved this more the second time round. There were things I’d forgotten and I absolutely love Celaena I forgot how innocent she could be under all that toughness. I also remembered I used to like choal 🙈

First off i just wanna say...THOSE CAPTAIN AMERICA SLIPPERS!! Oh my goodness this book was just amazing, i completely read it in one sitting and just could not put it down. The flow of the book was phenomenal and the character development from the first book to this was just fantastic. The only reason it was given a 4 of 5 Stars (if it was an option it would have been a 4.75) was because of the ending. The momentum built up throughout the book only to end as it did was slightly disappointing..BUT I need to know how it ends and what will happen between Caden and Gabriel. Cant wait for the 3rd and final installment "Rebecca's Redemption".
