Captain Ingram's Inheritance follows on from the two previous stories in this trilogy, Miss Jacobson's Journey and Lord Roworth's Reward. They are Regency romances in the traditional vein, but a bit more tongue in cheek than someone like Georgette Heyer. The best comparison would probably be with some of the Regency stories written by MC Beaton - if you like them, you'll love these.

English readers may know Carola Dunn from her Daisy Dalrymple books, but she is originally English and has written a fair number of regencies. It looks like most have only been published in the US, although they are available on Amazon as Kindle editions.

The three books are very much related and should be read in order to give you the bigger picture; this book and the previous volume very much cross over, almost like one story.

High hopes let down
I'm sure we all had a vision of what the triumphant, long-awaited return of Captain Jean-Luc Picard would look like. The series starts and ends in that vein, being exciting, thoughtful and with a moral lesson, but with a lot of padding throughout the series. Much like Discovery, the series decided to throw a lot of side adventures in the mix and while Picard is much more focussed than its Netflix cousin there are still times when it drags.
Stewart tries well to play his most famous role, but his age shows at times and I felt the makers missed the chance to sensitively keep his character but replaced with a younger actor in the last episode. This would have allowed Stewart to bow out gracefully and show more promise for the future series of his life.

I love marvel but have not committed to watching them all yet, what better time to do this than in lockdown?

Decided to go for the chronological order with this being my second one. I love the plot mentions to other films and the clever way they have fit it into the universe. The makeup and space parts of the film are great.

Also Jude Law....... 😍

I felt the concept of her regaining her memory could have been better explained and a longer process. Although I understand why it isn't. I found either the scripting or the acting for Brie Larsson to be quite false and the humourous/sassy sections forced. I was fully up for Captain Marvel being my next female icon but she didnt hit the mark (sorry).

Album Favorite

"This was my album of 1974, although it came out in 1973. I guess I was always catching up with Frank Zappa. The first album by him that I bought was Hot Rats, and I found that a rather irritating album of not very evolved guitar playing. Frank was a bit of a one-trick pony as a guitarist, but as a musician, arranger and bandleader of the traditional sort, he was at the top of the tree, although he wasn’t unique as a bandleader. There were by then other bandleaders in rock, blues and soul groups like BB King, James Brown and in England John Mayall. In America, Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart were bandleaders of an apparently tough-cookie nature, although everyone who worked with Frank seems to have revered him as a musician and a person."

I'll be honest with you. The Morganville Vampires series has never been my favourite but the author has a way of writing that draws you in and you can devour the book in a matter of hours if you have no distractions. They have a fluidity and ease to them that means you can read it so easily.

Being book 13, this has been my favourite so far and therefore it's getting 5 stars!

A more sane Myrnin(who I love btw),<spoiler>and a kiss between him and Claire! A small one, but still a kiss!</spoiler>, a Captain Obvious that can actually kick-butt and more trouble between the humans and the vampires. What more could we ask for?

The last hundred pages or so are always edge of your seat stuff, too :D
