Blood Machines (2019)
Blood Machines (2019)
2019 | Sci-Fi
Blood Machines is essentially a glorified music video for French synthwave outfit Carpenter Brut. That's not something that automatically de-credits the project of course, and sci-fi fans will undoubtedly get a kick out of it.

Aesthetically, Blood Machines looks pretty stunning. The entire 50 minute runtime is bursting with colour, and is visually impressive. The settings are truly otherworldly.
The screenplay and to a certain extent the plot, take a backseat. The dialogue is frequently silly (possibly intentional) and doesn't really offer much - I actually think it could have benefited from no dialogue at all - but the makers hope to distract from this with naked women adorning upside down crucifixes across their torsos. Nothing like a bit of nudity mixed with anti-religious symbolism to fill up the "edgy" quota after all.

I actually saw Carpenter Brut at Arctangent in 2019, completely unaware of who they were, and honestly had a great time. Their music is heavily inspired by 80s movies, and the visuals they use in their live performances reflect that. Here, their music adds to the experience of Blood Machines in spades, and a big part of why I enjoyed it.

If you have an hour to kill and like Sci-Fi, then I would encourage you to check out Blood Machines. It's not revolutionary but it's entertaining enough for what it's is.

This is mostly about how it was dealing with how the Amish came to America. It really tells the story of what happens on a ocean crossing. To extent that it gives what it like when Amish and other were traveling to the New World for their freedom.

You do not go into it expecting what is to happen. It seem more historical then Amish. Though is mostly about Amish and how they come to America. Susanne tell a story about Anna and though she is with while crossing the ocean. She seem interested in the carpenter on the Charming Nancy? Who could that be?

It's a shame that this movie gets generally overlooked due to the absence of Michael Myers. As its own thing, Halloween III is a suitably ridiculous piece of horror/sci-fi/mystery cheese that deserb s more love dammit!

It has the always reliable Tom Atkins in the lead role, Dan O'Herlihy as this movies James Bond level villain, some pretty fun gory moments, a sub plot that has something to do with Stonehenge, a wonderful music score from John Carpenter and Alan Howarth (ignoring that truly grating Silver Shamrock jingle), and a mostly solid mystery narrative. There's a lot to love here that unfortunately get buried under nothing more than its title.

The best halloween movie?
I loved this movie. There was so much tension all the way through and i enjoyed every second. A lot of that is down to the amazing but eerie score in which we see John Carpenter return for.

Another return is Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode who is great as usual. The whole cast does a good job. With a couple of familiar faces.

This is a direct sequel to original movie. In some ways i like that. It retcons some stupid stuff where they turned Michael Myers into a supernatural entity. But in other ways it means Halloween H20 is pointless and nor canon which i actually enjoyed. It wasnt as scary but it was entertaining.

This movie goes back to scary Michael. He is brutal and for some someone who does not say a single word, speaks volumes with just his presence and proves to be a real threat to anyone he comes into contact with. We even see the original Myers actor, Nick Castle, see a return for a cameo in a window shot which was a nice touch.

Its easily 1 of the creepiest horrors ive seen in a while and 1 of the greats of 2018 and would happily watch again. From what i hear, development is already going for a sequel with a story already written and i am excited. I just hope they can keep that tension.

The original Halloween was never supposed to become a franchise, John Carpenter only ever wanted to make one film. Naturally, after the movie’s success, a sequel was greenlit soon after and was rushed into production with a massively increased budget.

Halloween II remains a troubled film. Cleverly set on the same night as its predecessor, it lacked the trademark stalk and kill sequences that made its forbearer such an impeccable addition to the genre.

Upping the budget also meant upping the gore and from here the series started to rely heavily on brutality rather than outright terror. Still, it’s a great film anchored by Jamie Lee Curtis’ brilliant performance as Laurie Strode.

As I've been a fan of the original since I first watched it on the TV at the 12 late night wasn't sure at first if I was gonna like the new version was i disappointed no I liked it a lot I'm glad they ignored all the sequels and the rob zombie versions and give a us a proper sequel that stays true the original from start to finish plenty of gore which I like Jamie Lee Curtis back no longer the hunted but now ready to take down Michael with or without her family plus John carpenter back on the theme it took me back to what I liked about the original thumbs up.

I agree 100%, I went to see this at cinema as I've always loved the Halloween movies, until the most recent ones.
Straight from the off this one felt like it was from the 80's, and I loved how it turned out.
Also got my mum to buy me it for Christmas to add to my collection lol.

So far, all the Harry Dresden books have been very enjoyable, but this has to be one of the best.

Harry is hired by a representative of the Vatican to retrieve the stolen shroud of Turin, while he's also been challenged to a duel by a vampire ofthe Red Court: a duel, they say, that will end the war between the White Council of Wizards and the Vampire Red Court (a war precipitated in an earlier novel). This also sees the return of Michael Carpenter, as well as Harry's ex Susan Rodriguez (still struggling with her semi-vampiric state), and (due to the subject matter) also builds up more about The Knights of the Cross (first introduced, along with Michael, in Grave Peril).

Not as good, but still worth it.
Michael Myers lives, he pursues Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) to the hospital. It's up to Dr. Samuel Loomis (Donald Pleasence) to stop him.

With this sequel John Carpenter served only as a producer, Rick Rosenthal stepped in to direct.
Halloween II still has good to it. The score is good, the acting is mostly good (especially Curtis and Pleasence), and Michael has plenty of screen time which is definitely a pro.

Unfortunately, Halloween II fails to recapture its predecessors suspenseful tone, there are some pointless deaths, and some death scenes are straight up cheesy, ruining what suspense what the film had.

Overall it's still an entertaining slasher, just not anything more then that.

"I just had such a love affair with Indiana Jones when I was a little kid. I used to dress up like Indiana Jones and my mom would hide jewels in the house. [Laughs.] I loved Connery. He’s so good. It’s kinda hard to have such an established character and then to come in on the last one and play his dad. Also, I just loved the “cup of the carpenter” and him trying to find which cup it was. And I loved all the booby traps. I’d never seen Star Wars or Star Trek or all that stuff — and I was never really into comic books — so for me, Indiana Jones was really my only hero as a kid. He was awesome."

Spooky Scary Roses
The Exorcism of Emily Rose- is a really scary, terrorfying, horrorfying underrated horror movie directesd by Scott Derrickson yes thats right he dircted doctor strange.

The plot: The Rev. Moore (Tom Wilkinson) is prosecuted for the wrongful death of a girl thought to be demonically possessed, because he administered the church-sanctioned exorcism that ultimately killed her. Prosecuting attorney Ethan Thomas (Campbell Scott) contends that the young woman, Emily (Jennifer Carpenter), suffered from schizophrenia and should have been medically diagnosed. Meanwhile, defense lawyer Erin Bruner (Laura Linney) argues that Emily's condition cannot be explained by science alone.

Its thrilling, chilling, spooky, and alot more.

I would highly recorddmend this movie.
