Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Let's Misbehave (Summerhill, #3) in Books
Jan 8, 2021
This is my second book by Kate Perry and I have to admit I liked this one a lot more than the other. I may even be interested in reading the rest of the Summerhill stories because the sister have seriously grown on me.
I've been in a bit of a book slump lately and I kept starting books and then stopping because they weren't grabbing my attention. Then I started this, and though it was book 3 in the series I quickly caught up on it and fell into the story.
I liked it from the beginning, it was romance with a few naughty bits which is right up my street and I enjoyed reading Gigi and Merrick's story. They both became who they wanted to be and that bit at the end was really cute.
Yeah, I've been persuaded to carry on the series with Titania's story next, though I'm really wanting to read the one with Luca in :)

Awix (3310 KP) rated The Great St. Trinian's Train Robbery (1966) in Movies
Sep 6, 2020
Fourth St Trinian's film is a knockabout farce which has not aged at all well. Crooks hide the loot from a train robbery (such things were topical at the time) in a disused building, which is then taken over by St Trinian's school as their new premises. Can the villains retrieve the swag without anyone noticing?
Notably pragmatic (to the point of ruthlessness) in pursuit of its gags: there is shotgun satire of politicians, civil servants, the private school system, and various topical issues (there are some very dodgy jokes about immigration and racial minorities). Even more cartoony than a Carry On film, and increasingly frantic as it goes on, it does have a remarkable cast of well-known faces from British films of its period, but the jokes are thinner on the ground than one might hope for given the talent involved. Has a certain historical interest these days but it's awkward to watch as much as entertaining.

Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated Fracture in Books

this is the first book by this author that I've read and I couldn't wait to start it after reading the blurb. this is a beautifully written book, it has a feeling of sadness to it which makes the story very black and white in places. the story will have you on the edge from the start to the finish. the relationship between the two characters is fully explored within the book. this book is a fantastic read and I couldnt put it down till id finished it, the story really sucks you in and keeps a hold of you till the end, leaving you wanting more, I was definitely sad when it had finished, I really wanted it to carry on. I cant wait to read more from this author.

Peter G. (247 KP) rated The Magnificent Seven (2016) in Movies
Oct 30, 2019
Having seen most of the original and seminal Seven Samurai I can attest that the remakes are very good movies and carry the essence of the original very well without surpassing it.
It maintains the feel of the original western well and allows just about enough of an introduction to each character to become invested, although for others it's all left to the imagination.
If you have seen the original then you already know where the story is going and move on to guessing who survives at the finale.
All in all a good movie from the consistent Antoine Fuqua and an enjoyable watch, although I feel as though this remake didn't have to be remade at all, but Hollywood seems to insist on it these days with its unwillingness to indulge and invest in originality.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Finding Sky (Benedict, #1) in Books
Jan 7, 2021
I didn't know much about this before I bought it a couple of months back, only that it had good ratings on here. I tend to trust these ratings although every once in a while, my rating isn't the same as everyone else's.
As is the case with this.
I really liked the Benedict family as a whole, they were all really nice people. Even Sky was pretty cool but something didn't gel with me and the storyline. There wasn't a sense of urgency to find out what the secret was with Zed and his family. I wasn't that bothered about finding out what happened in Sky's past. The ending wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be.
It was just so-so.
I'd probably only carry on with the series to read more of the Benedict family.
