Eleanor (1463 KP) rated Faithless (Grant County, #5) in Books
Oct 13, 2019
We are back in good old Grant County with Sara and Jeffery stumbling across a body whose last moments on earth were truly horrific. A difficult investigation follows with the girl belonging to a very religious family. It’s an interesting case if a bit of a slow burner of a book as a whole.
Sara and Jeffery carry on like Sara and Jeffery: bicker, argue, kiss rinse repeat but somehow Jeffery doesn't annoy me as much as he did in the last few books. Even Lena seems to be more of a character that I don’t need to just slap for making poor decisions, don’t get me wrong I’m still waiting to see any evidence of her being the “great cop” we keep getting told she is but she was a lot less of a car crash of annoying in this book.
Only one more book in this series to go and I’m really hoping it all ends on a return to the highs of the beginning of this series.

Felicity comes to see Joe, a counsellor, when she is found wandering, lost and disorientated in Cambridge, where he story is set. She doesn’t know how she got there, or how she has been injured. She wants to go to South Georgia to carry out her research on glaciers ( she’s an academic at the university), but has to have a clean bill of health. This accident puts her mental health in doubt.
I don’t want to say too much more about the plot. I will say that it was a breathtaking read. I was constantly left wondering what could possibly happen next, and I didn’t know who to be the most worried for, or who I could trust - if indeed I could trust anyone at all!
It’s a great read, and one I’d thoroughly recommend if you like suspense - I was on tenterhooks for the whole book!

Merissa (13100 KP) rated Never Hurt Me (The Wish Makers, #3) in Books
Dec 17, 2018 (Updated Apr 11, 2023)
Desiree is the one who has helped Mandy and Chrissy and now it's her turn. Kaf says that he got the timing wrong and she is free to go after 45 years, not 50. Desiree doesn't know exactly what to do as life has certainly changed for her during her time of being a Wish Mistress. She sets out to find her path in life and we tag along with her.
She really goes through the mill on her journey and you will be with her every step of the way so don't be surprised if your eyes start leaking at certain points. No spoilers, that's all I'm saying! Just when you think that everything is decided and sorted out, it turns on its head.
It was great that Mandy and Chrissy played a part in this book and I hope that we carry on seeing them as the books continue.
If you want to find out what makes a Wish Mistress tick then this is definitely the book for you. Highly recommended and I'm already looking forward to Book 4!
