I wasn't sure what to expect when I began to read this book as it is the first of its kind that I personally read and let me tell you that I was completely blown away by the talent of these amazing authors. I could not bring myself to put this book down. As I was reading it I was coming to my own conclusions but nothing prepared me for the revelations that this book had in store for me.


Reading Tom's stories through the lives he lived left me feeling angry, outraged and saddened but I was completely unprepared for the emotional destruction I would end up experiencing by the end. I had a hard time composing myself while reading this book and even at the conclusion and I honestly don't think I have ever cried so much and so hard. I still carry the story in my heart. This is a story that has forever changed me and my personal perceptions on life and I will forever be indebted to this female powerhouse uniquely talented and motivating women.


Each story which leads to the emotional conclusion was superbly crafted with strong and believable characters and the world building was beyond my imagination. Don't pass up on reading 7 as it will have you seeing things on a new perspective. I look forward to reading more books from these authors. I wish we could rate books higher because this is a 10 star read.

After much struggle, I made it to the halfway point (page 257 of 468) and just cannot go on. There seems to be too much going on and I'm still uncertain what the main plot is. Political intrigue? Possibly a romance between Juliana and Guérin? Although how that would ever happen is beyond me, seeing as their animosity towards each other isn't the hate-to-love you see in other books. This is real hatred. The book has moments where the passages are well-written and engaging, though they're few and far between, so I think the author does have potential. However, something about the book just isn't holding my attention or interest, and it doesn't help that Juliana is an irritating little mouse (Guérin calls her "mouse" repeatedly) who's rather stupid. Guérin isn't much better, he's a donkey, but at least he's interesting and not half as annoying. Perhaps if I knew where in the world the plot was actually going, I might have been able to carry on, but there are way too many plots that seem to be going in all sorts of directions and it's just a mess. I'm unsure who the target audience is for this: readers who know next to nothing of the history of this time or those who do, I'm not certain either would end up happy.

So will I pick this up and try again in the future? I doubt it.

In Walk in the Flesh, Neil, an ex-soldier on the brink of death, is given the chance to live on and exact revenge on the people who killed his wife in a terrorist attack. The British government will use nanotechnology to insert his consciousness into host bodies, allowing him to carry out covert missions undetected. Now, besides becoming a perfect killing machine, Neil has also become a monster. Or perhaps he was one all along…

The story has a very scary premise – and one that technology might not be too far away from making a possibility. There is no shortage of action in this thriller, and I was caught up in it right away. The story moves quickly, but it takes a while to really understand what is happening with Neil. Eventually the reader knows more about him than he does himself. The most suspenseful bits come near the end when he has a young woman travelling with him, and you’re left guessing at his motivations.

There were a few editing issues. Once or twice I had to re-read a sentence due to a missing word, but the issues were infrequent or the story kept moving well enough for me not to notice too much.

If you enjoy military adventure novels, cyberpunk, or techno-thrillers, this one is worth a read.
