I love that Cat Crawfield works for the government with a "Special Forces" team, instead of the usual rogue behavior that I read in many Urban Fantasy series. It's interesting that it takes Bones this long to find Cat, and by a seeming coincidence at that. It occurred to me while reading that if Bones really was as good at what he does as he says he is, then he would have found her within the first year easily.
Skipping ahead to the best part about this series, in my personal opinion, is the sexual chemistry between Cat and Bones. I confess, my curiosity about chapter 32 of this book, after reading a book review that made vague hints about it, is what propelled me to start this series. I actually read that chapter first once I got my hands on this book to satisfy my curiosity, and words can not describe how hot this chapter is! So often, I find that sex scenes in novels abuse cliches or do not use the details adequately for my personal tastes, but this chapter throws conventional decorum out the window without disgusting me or making me too uncomfortable to read. Plus, the more fantastical aspects of the two characters made for some unique and handy details that Jeaniene Frost used quite well to create such heat between Cat and Bones. Yes, I read that chapter several more times before I turned the book back into the library.
Cat Crawfield has really grown into a character of strength and determination from the first book, Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 1). She knows how to use her abilities to their maximum potential and her self-confidence is strong enough to stand up to even her mother. No longer is she like a pupil to Bones' instruction, but an equal to him in every way that matters. Bones is just as cocky and alluring as he ever was - I wouldn't change a thing about him. It is obvious that he has more than a few secrets up his sleeve, but I don't mind the wait.
I find it intriguing how Cat can alter perceptions and prejudices of the people around her as easily as she does, as is shown with the men on her team. This shows just how much potential she carries to change her world on a larger scale. I can't wait to pick up the next book in the series, At Grave's End (Night Huntress, Book 3).

Honest Review for Free Copy of Book
The Cerulean Monarch by Prashanti Talluri follows directly in the footsteps of The Core Fulcrum and continues the adventures of Goldie and his friends. Once again the kittens are left to save the world.
The beginning of the second semester at Meow Wow High School promises to be just as interesting as the first semester was. At the high school, there is a secret room in the library that houses special or secret information. During the pre-opening cleaning of the school, the librarian hears strange noises but the source of the sound is not discovered until later.
Goldie and the other members of the “Curiosity Kills the Cat” class are brought in with their professor to solve the mystery of what happened in the secret library. They must be careful because a traitor or spy is suspected. The class is split into two teams to work on this case and once again Goldie finds himself pitted against Hisky and his gang. The only clue they have is petrified remains, ferrofluids, and an image of Ocspires (an extent amphibian in their world). That's not much to go on if they are to save their species once again.
I enjoyed how the professor encouraged the kittens to solve the mystery themselves and encouraged independence. Though with how important solving this was to the cat world I would have thought the professor would have been more involved from the start. Similarly to the first book I did not care for all the cat puns. I understand that this is because of it being a cat world, but I did not find it enjoyable. The strange spellings and combined or made-up words also took away from the book.
Young readers will enjoy this book the most, in part because they tend to be more forgiving of made-up stuff. Also, their imagination probably won’t try to reject the world built up in these books nearly as much. I rate this book 2 out of 4. Yet again there were just too many strange things in this book. At times it was almost like this book was about humans then it shifts gears and the characters are cats (or cat-like) again.

i wanted Will and I dont get him!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Caitlin starts a new job, and finds herself drooling over her boss. But with a rubbish childhood and still dealing with an abusive ex, she doesn't think she deserves anyone. But Will is determined, and more importantly, willing to wait for Caitlin.
OH! But for one teeny tiny thing, this would have been a 5 star! I'll get back to that, though.
Cat is still dealing with her abusive ex. He is stalking her and keeps turning up in random places, kicking her door in! So, quite rightly, she doesn't want to start anything, let alone with her boss. But Will is a sweetheart, and once he knows about the ex, he's willing to wait for Cat, as long as it takes.
I loved Cat! She's not perfect, she doesn't pretend to be, but she is working and playing hard. She wants to be rid of the ex, but he isn't taking any notice of her saying no. I LOVED Ben and Alex, Cat's best friends! Oh those guys are the BEST best friends a girl could wish for, made me wish for a male best friend! I love what they do to help her to recover from the ex. But as serious as that is, they are so much fun!
It's not especially steamy, as Cat herself finds out 😉. But that's not what this book is about. This book is about getting yourself free of a toxic relationship, giving yourself time to heal, and letting yourself love again, on YOUR terms. And it's about friendships that can help you do that, IF you let them. It's about falling in love again, when you really didn't expect to.
What that teeny tiny thing was? I wanted Will and I don't get him! He was, in his own words, smitten with Cat that first day, and he falls hard and fast, but HE doesn't tell me. And I wanted him to!
So, for that reason only. . .

When a mysterious unseen foe kidnaps a cat and then one of the twins, the three Grace kids start to discover the strange secret of their new home. A strong plot and good character development kept me turning the pages of this novella.

Reasons I love this series...
1.) Vampires
2.) A "naked" cat/demon
3.) It makes me laugh!
Jaye Wells has created an amazing world that is a combination of fantasy, biblical mythology, and humor!
She has made up words (trampire being my fav.)...
And she has started us on an amazing adventure that I cannot wait to finish!
