graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated Abducted (Lizzy Gardner, #1) in Books
Feb 15, 2019
4.25 stars
I was super impressed with this book: the construction, the fleshed out characters, the plotting, just about everything. Lizzy is a great protagonist who is strong, but has her weaknesses, she's disturbed but trying to be normal, she all around feels like a real human being. And she's not the only one, all the secondary characters are done just has well and serve a purpose. The only thing I didn't like was that the cat was a victim. I didn't really feel it was necessary, and I have cats, so I don't want to read about animals being hurt or killed in books. Most especially if it doesn't add anything. Otherwise I would totally recommend the book to those who enjoy mysteries and thrillers with realistic characters.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Aliens (1986) in Movies
Feb 20, 2018
James Cameron's muscular sequel doesn't muck about admiring the art direction or trying to be atmospheric, but reinvents the original movie as a gut-busting action thriller. Slimy corporate types have colonised the planet on which a lethal alien predator was discovered in the first film; now contact has been lost and sole survivor Ripley is sent in with the troops to investigate. The ultimate fate of the cat remains a mystery.
After a long, tense build-up, once the action kicks off the film feels relentless, and in the Queen Alien it comes up with a monster just as iconic as the original creature. Great ensemble cast led by Weaver, terrific set pieces, interesting subtext about the maternal instinct. Every other Alien film since has been judged by the standards established here.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Booked for Trouble (Lighthouse Library Mystery #2) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
This is the second book in the Lighthouse Library Mystery series, but you can jump right in without feeling like you have missed anything. I loved the lighthouse / library setting it feels cozy and calm, at least until a murder takes place right outside. I also liked the cast of characters in this one. Lucy has believable problems, and the supporting cast are a likable bunch. The mystery itself was fast paced and not too obvious. I will definitely go back and read number one in the series.
With a home perched above a library full of books, a lighthouse, a murder, and a library cat this was a perfect cozy read!

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Alice in Wonderland (1951) in Movies
Dec 16, 2019
The Mad Hatter
Alice in Wonderland- is a classic fantastic movie. The animation is phenomenal like with all disney classic animation movies. The story is excellent. The charcters are really intresting. I love this movie like with other disney classic animation movies.
The Plot: When Alice (Kathryn Beaumont), a restless young British girl, falls down a rabbit hole, she enters a magical world. There she encounters an odd assortment of characters, including the grinning Cheshire Cat (Sterling Holloway) and the goofy Mad Hatter (Ed Wynn). When Alice ends up in the court of the tyrannical Queen of Hearts (Verna Felton), she must stay on the ruler's good side -- or risk losing her head.
I had a good time rewatching this movie and so will you if you have the chance.
