New age story
Excellent, new age love story that's very up to date with technology. I really enjoyed the characters and the dynamics of the relationships.
Red it very quickly and loved every minute of it.

The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets in Books

On the surface, Eva Rice’s debut novel The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets seems almost like “chick lit”. On closer inspection it really is much more. You can read my full review here https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2015/01/31/an-artistic-novel-and-thats-no-secret/
The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Devil Wears Prada (The Devil Wears Prada, #1) in Books

While I personally despise the label, I'm afraid that this book fits into the "chick-lit" category perfectly. Seriously, a book about a young woman's struggles with her nasty female boss who takes away her whole personal life in the name of fashion could hardly be something you'd see your macho male plumber reading, now could it? So yes, it's 100% pure, unadulterated "chick-lit", and anyone not looking for some fluffy, light reading material may close this review right now - I doubt you'll be interested in reading more. Erika (17788 KP) rated The Heiress: The Revelations of Anne de Bourgh in Books

YAWN.... DNF
This book is so boring. The subject matter had great potential, focusing on Anne de Bourgh from Pride and Prejudice. It's obvious from the first pages that this chick is addicted to laudanum, guess what, she's drugged up all the time! I was 30 percent of the way through this book, and Anne was only 20. Literally nothing happened, other than her figuring out she like chicks. Another trope, single chick back in the day = must be a lesbian. That was the death knell for me, I was out.
I cannot say it's poorly written, the writing was fine. It was just so damn boring.

Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Sunset Scandal (Sunset Island, #9) in Books

Emma Cresswell is kinda stupid. Seriously, she's sure that someone framed Kurt and her mind goes to Austin and not the chick who tried to stab her and blamed her for the ruination of her life?
SERIOUSLY?
This book was saved by the intro to Darcy and Molly.

All this book did was frustrate me! Chick-lit is definitely not my favourite genre, however I can cope with it on occasions. This book is one of those that reminds me why I steer clear of chick-lit!
Lovely little fairy tale story line, boy meets girl, girl meets boy and guess what... that fall in love! But do they admit it? Nope, not until your brain is crying from the nonsense of it all! I wish these books would come up with a different story line of boy and girl love each other but don't tell each other for ages, Pride & Prejudice tells that story perfectly well, we don't need anymore!

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated Secret Santa in Books

Four Christmas novels - two romance, one mystery, and one chick lit. I bought it for Laura Levine's mystery novella featuring her sleuth Jaine Austen. I loved it as always. Two of the other stories were enjoyable, but Fern Michaels's contribution was just plain bad on all fronts.
