It started with a secret is about how one secret can lead to several issues down the line but also something beautiful.
I love the style of writing, it flows between characters seamlessly and cleverly. The story is very feel good and the characters fit in well.
My only small criticism is around the title, I think the secret is a little underwhelming when it comes out. All issues are resolved fairly quickly.

I hesitated before rating this book. It was not as bad as two stars but I am not sure it is worthy of three, so let us say it is two and a half. Whilst I liked the Jane Austen/Pride and Prejudice references, I am not really a fan of Chick Lit and at times found it a bit tedious. However there were times when I got into the story line; I did read it in one day after all...

What if women could find a way to teach men how to behave properly? Well, Eric Garcia (yes, a man) came up with one idea, and he wrote about it long before the #MeToo movement. This novel has been called “Sex and the City meets Misery,” as well as a “brilliantly twisted take on chick lit,” and you can see what I think of it in my review here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2013/12/14/teaching-men-manners-is-no-laughing-matter/

Since I don't seem to be having much luck with books that I have actively bought to read and then struggled to get into, I've gone back to the Random Number Generator and it chose #32, which is this one: a chick-lit romance. We will see how I get on with it...

2.5 stars.
I'm really picky with my chick-lit. I like authors like [a:Paige Toon|515155|Paige Toon|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1276611385p2/515155.jpg] and [a:Belinda Jones|42220|Belinda Jones|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1272239001p2/42220.jpg] who focus a good 80-90% of the story on the main characters and their romance.
This was probably 30%, which was a big disappointment. I wanted more of Derry. He appeared in the book probably about 5 times total, which was rubbish.
The only good thing in my opinion was the Joss thing. I'm so glad she got rid of Marvin, the insensitive, manipulative old sod. Admittedly I was doing a little happy dance when they met in London and she told him how it was now. Go Joss!
Other than that though, I was disappointed. I read books for the romance and for me, there wasn't much between our main characters.
Not a book I'm likely to keep.

Light and enjoyable
As chick lit books go, this is fairly good. Yes it’s a little cheesy and it’s beyond predictable, but it’s well written and easy to connect with all 3 of the main characters in some way across the course of the book. They all have flaws, lots of them in some cases, and there are times when some of their actions become very frustrating. That said, it was a light hearted and sweet book that was quick and enjoyable to read. Not one I’d rush to recommend unless you're into these sorts of books - for me it was just a quick read before moving onto something more serious.
Pip pip Hooray!
As chick lit goes you could do worse than this. Basically it’s the trials and tribulations of a modern love story involving a clown called Pip and an accountant named Zac. Totally predictable but also somehow comforting like a cwtch under a warm blanket on a cold day.
In some parts you want to shake the pair of them. I cried at some parts (I know!!! Anyone who reads my reviews knows that this isn’t unknown!!!) but I did enjoy the book very much. If you wants a well written, heartwarming piece of fluff, this is the one.

Received this book in a good reads giveaway and boy am i glad i did. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting,i loved all the different characters who all seemed so real ,if i found a reading circle like that id join it in a shot, loved the ups and downs and felt i lived it all with them,i am a big fan of erotica, but i wouldn't class this in that genre,it was more chick lit with spice ,i was in stitches with laughter at some points,it was nice to read a book with such strong, normal, female role models. But by far my favorite character had to be Reggie, loved the chic geek,so glad to have discovered a new author.
