Lindsay (1760 KP) rated Potty-Training Day in Books

Are you looking for a book that will help you introduce your child or children to Potty training? I know some parents seem to struggle with this sometimes. Well, "Potty-Training Day" by Akilah Trainay and Ziana T. Washington seems like a good book to have on your child or your bookshelves.
This book seems to introduce your child to the potty and how it works. Those children or your child may or may not be ready. It tells that sometimes the child or children are prepared at their own pace. There are some ideas in this book that you may use with your child or children.
It shows the feeling of a child or parents with potty training. It is an excellent book to introduce to your child or children when you think they are ready to go from diapers to big girls. The pictures remain done well. I enjoyed them. This book does help with ways to deal with potty training but does not try and force it on them. Introduce it to them and keep at it but try to be patient with your child or children.
Children and Toddlers learn at different times. This book is an excellent addition to your child's bookshelves when it comes to potty training. Some perfect phrases are in the book to use or evening trying singing to help your child or children to go. But do not expect them to do it the first time. They may be scared. Try again later or another day. A book for parents to read as well. Good to add as a baby shower gift, or later down the road for the child or children.

ClareR (5885 KP) rated The Waiting Song in Books

Fosters understanding in children to those that are different to them. (3 more)
Lovely illustrations
Catchy song
Teaches ALL children how to share
A lovely little book which not only gives the autistic child advice on how to wait their turn, but also explains to the non-autistic child that everyone is different and there are some children who need help at learning how to share. The illustrations are bold and colourful, and I'm sure that the children in my setting would be just as keen to name the animals as to listen to the story. The song is simple and catchy, and I know that after a few times of reading it together, we would have children singing along.
In the past, we have used an egg timer to illustrate to children how long they can play with a toy before they should pass it along (for those who do not understand the "when you've finished, could you please give it to X"). I could see that for some of those children that this could be a possible tool as well. It's always good to add another string to your, and their, bow!!
I received this book free for an unbiased review through NetGalley and publisher.

Lindsay (1760 KP) rated The Goose on the Roof in Books
Oct 4, 2020
Looking for lovely family-friendly children's book for your children or child? Well, The Goose on the Roof is one to have on your child bookshelf. It is quite funny. You will be laughing when things see things more problematic. It seems like fun and enjoyable about a little girl and a goose.
The pictures are done well as well. I enjoyed the pictures and was laughing. Have you ever try talking to animals and as they try and help and not helping. You will be laughing at the antics. Will the little girl get help and be able to solve the problem? Why is the goose on the roof?
Children will learn rhyming and some other problem solving and how to ask for help. This is done well and is enjoyable. Children can look at pictures and enjoy it that way. Good for bedtime or any cuddle time with children. Good for children ages 3 through 7.

Sara Cox (1845 KP) rated The Grizzly Mother (Mothres of Xsan #2) in Books
Feb 24, 2020
What a beautifully illustrated book! This books follows a grizzly mother bear with her two cubs from hibernation to the next season’s hibernation. It teaches children about different aspects of the grizzly bear’s life in different seasons and their interactions with the Gitxsan community.
I love how it has definitions of words that children might not know (e.g. metabolism).
I think more information about the geographical locality and the Gitxsan would make this book so it is more accessible to children more globally. Afterall, who wouldn’t want to learn about grizzly bears?
