"I would say [I like it] more so than [All the President’s Men], because I sort of luxuriated in the ambition of it all: telling two stories simultaneous from different eras. I don’t think that had ever been done before. It was also the first R-rated movie I saw. I saw that, and in the evening I saw Chinatown. So I saw two R-rated movies when I was 12 years old. That was quite a Christmas vacation. I remember quite distinctly that my dad and I also saw The Conversation, and we saw Lenny and The Towering Inferno. We saw all five movies over that Christmas vacation. That was really great."

There are many pleasures along the way, including the effective evocation of Victorian-era London. Then there are the terrific lead performances. Stevens conveys Dickens' complex, self-absorbed personality with an enjoyably light touch

I was absolutely glued to this book. Received it on Christmas day. I had started the book and finished it in 4 hours. I could not put it down. I'm so happy I read this book and even happier to own it.

Call the Midwife Season 8 starts in less than 90 minutes. I'm rewatching the Christmas episode now to get me in the mood. Call the Midwife is my favorite show EVER and I'm so excited I can't stand it.

If, like, me, you can't wait, here's a quick preview.
