"A classic that won the National Book Award in 2011. The author lived through Hurricane Katrina, and this is her fictional story about an African-American family before and after the storm."

"A classic and unique take on the vampire legend. A beautiful-looking film, as you would expect from Guillermo del Toro, with some great acting performances. A really underrated film. —Martin Bulloch"

Another Disney classic gets the live action treatment. The story is fairly different to the original as it would not work as a live action film on the whole. There are a few homages to some of the classic scenes of the animated version. The SFX are good but everything else is just your standard family film. Lost a bit of the Disney magic in the update.

"Going a little more lighthearted, number three is the original Jumanji, which is so cheesy because I was in the remake, but that was always one of my favorite films of all time. It’s just pure nostalgia. I think I’m right in that age bracket where it’s like a classic to anyone who’s around my age, and anyone who’s outside of that, it doesn’t seem like it’s so much of a classic to them. Loved it."

Classic Chiller!
Classic chiller from Peter Straub. An epic tale about a group of ageing men who form The Chowder Society, a place where they share ghosts stories between them, and are united by a terrible secret from the past. Expertly written, solid characters, and genuinely creepy, this is Peter Staub on top form. Essential reading!
Note: If you enjoy this I seriously recommend his equally fantastic ghost story Full Circle (aka Julia/ The Haunting of Julia).
