Classic western only misses out on a 10 because it's not quite as good as the Kurosawa version. Mexican peasants in improbably clean clothes (the Mexican government insisted) hire a septet of gunmen to defend them from marauding bandits; Bernstein's famous theme gets played a lot. I mean, A LOT.

Enduringly and deservedly popular, both as a piece of entertainment and a source of discussions down the pub (Horst Bucholz and Brad Dexter are the names everyone struggles to remember). Loses some of the subtlety and depth of characterisation from the original Japanese version, but also scores by building up the character of the bandit leader (Wallach). Possibly not the greatest western ever, but still iconic and immensely influential. One for the ages.

I couldn't put it down! It's definitely an action-packed thriller, with fantastic characters and exciting plot twists. I just had to know what was going to happen next! I love that is clean with no foul language or sexual content, but it is kinda creepy and becomes violent at times, so I'd save this for older children and adults as it'd probably be too scary for little ones. E.R. Fowles paints a vivid picture from start to finish, so it was almost like the movie was playing out in my mind as I read. It should totally be made into a movie someday! Stacie Robinson

Psych You Out Again
Yes, another cop show... but with a twist. I’ll be honest, I was worried because this show was made during the same time other law enforcement shows were big. What could possibly make this show unique?
Well, it’s a quirky tv show that has good clean humor. Although, if you don’t like the 80’s, you won’t like the jokes. It was a clever fun show that I greatly enjoyed.
Although it had the cliche young man who needs to grow up as the main character, his need to get out of trouble with the law creates an opportunity for him to use the skills his dad trained him with. Being highly observant has never before been so fun.

Chocolate Cake by Michael Rosen is a short picture book about a boy’s love of chocolate cake. The boy ends up not being able to wait for his chocolate cake and this is the storm of his midnight chocolate cake feast. The boys mistake is that is does not clean up his trail of it. His mom figures out what happened in the end, which allows for a lesson on teaching children of being truthful.

The illustrations is great. The illustrations are unique. They appear to be hand drawn which helps the book to authentic.

I have this book 4/5 stars.

Thank you Penguin Random House UK Children’s and Puffin via NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I bought this off Ebay a while ago, possibly even before my little girl was born. I am such a massive reader and so I think it would be amazing if my baby girl was to grow up loving books too, therefore I started early buying her lots of books. This is one of the better ones that I have shared with her, the content and the quality is great. The book is nice and sturdy with clean cut, safe corners and is bright and compact. This book allows children to learn to count whilst looking at shiny, glossy pictures filled with bright, beautiful colours. My 3 month old little girl is fascinated with this book and loves to touch and grab the pages.
