Something about this felt a bit meh and lacklustre, especially the first half hour or so. And even when Nick Fury comes in, it still feels like there's something missing at times. Brie Larson is good and I do quite like her, Samuel L Jackson is great as a less serious rookie Fury and the rest of the supporting cast too are good. Although there could have been a little more Jude Law. The star of the show is definitely Goose by far, and this film would've been a lot worse off without him in it. I think the major issue with me is it seemed to be lacking in humour. And when there was jokes and one liners, the majority of these fell flat. It seemed to be lacking a bit if the usual Marvel pizzazz. The soundtrack is pretty good though.
My only other criticism is the weak excuse that has been put forward to explain her absence in the rest of the Marvel universe so far. I've never read any back story or comics etc so I dont know if it's it ties in with them, but it was a little disappointing.
Essentially a comic-book-brought-to-screen, the movie iteself was incredibly violent (but enjoyable), with ridiculous amoutns of blood and body parts splattered across the screen, and with more nudity than I was expecting alongside the whole sub-plot of King Leonidas wife getting the Spartans to march.
An entire sub-plot that is not in the source material at all.
I also have to say that the violence in this - while still there - is actually toned down quite a bit from what I was expecting, with several of the panels virtually lifted from the pages and put on to the screen.
The story, for anyone who doesn't already know, is centred around King Leonidas' view of Thermopylae - or 'The Hot Gates' - , a narrow pass defended by the 300 Spartans of the title (plus miscellaneous other Greeks, although you'd be forgive for thinking they weren't there the way this, and the legend, is told!) to the death, and which was immortalised by the poet Simodides as follows on an epigram placed on theri burial mound:
"Go tell the Spartans, you who passeth by,
That here, obedient to their laws, we lie."

Lee KM Pallatina (951 KP) rated Alex Kidd in Video Games
Aug 17, 2019
Alex Kidd is a pint-sized, big eared hero who was the unofficial mascot of Sega prior to Sonic the Hedgehog's release in 1991.
Before I started gaming myself, I was an avid observer, roughly 5/6 years old, there was this breakable box, some had coins, some had items...but this one box had a bluddy Ghost! I hid every time..until I took Control (get it?) Now im......years old I can appreciate it for the little gem its was/is.
Although a little short, this character and game has left its mark (if only a small one) on gaming culture itself, it seems Alex kidd was all but forgotten until sega classics collection was released on multiple platforms allowing player's old, young new and long timers to enjoy his adventure once more.
Since this, Alex kidd has been a playable character/racer in sonic All Star Racing which means he was down but not out, hopefully we'll see a solo comeback someday.
P.s THAT box is next to Alex in the uploaded pic.....
