"A tough, energetic chase film from Japan in the late
seventies, based on a true story, with a strong performance by Ken Ogata as an
outwardly charming con man and serial killer. It differs from the formal style
of the great Japanese filmmakers like Ozu, to whom Imamura was
an assistant. When Imamura started directing, he wanted to make films as unlike Ozu’s
as possible, and Vengeance Is Mine is the best example of that. He leaves all judgment of his characters to the viewer, and the film is both operatic
and contemporary. Beautifully photographed, it’s at times surreal and at other
times plays like a documentary, which some viewers have found confusing,
especially Imamura’s fracturing of the timeline. Those who love film and know
Imamura’s others, like The Eel and The Battle of Nayarama, will find this one
 essential."

Putting this here early. This is for To Catch a Dream - #Contemporary #Romance, #FirstPersonPastTense

A new job and good friends, twenty-six-year-old Caitlin has it all. Strong, independent, and content with her life, Caitlin isn’t looking for love.

Smart, sexy, and sweet, Will Kendrick is everything a girl could want. He also makes Caitlin want things she was certain she could live without.

Life isn't always simple though, and Caitlin has decisions to make. Her ex-boyfriend, Andrew, is still hanging around and causing trouble. Not only that, but Cat refuses to choose between a new man and her two best friends.

With her heart on the line, Caitlin must decide if she's prepared to take a chance or play it safe.

To Catch a Dream is a sweet romance with sensual moments. There is also strong language.

So this is different to Lilou's other books, as in it isn't paranormal and instead is a contemporary romance.

I really liked the story and if I wasn't so picky with giving 5 stars then this would probably have gotten 5 stars but as I am, I'm giving it a strong four.

I like how Lilou writes her romances. They're well thought out and developed so that although they are short you're left feeling all nice and warm that the couple got their HEA.

The first meeting between them was well written and I had shivers as I felt the connection between Faye and Quinn. That continued to the first sex scene and I was hooked from there.

I grew to like all the characters, apart from the bad guy of course.

Can't wait to read more books by the author!

2.5 stars.

This was your usual contemporary romance where girl meets boy, falls in love with boy, boy does something wrong--breaking girls heart...and then usually they make up again and live happily ever after. Only this ended with the boy--Leandro--breaking the girls--Bobby's--heart.

I know it's a series and that the author needed to continue it somehow but I kinda feel cheated, there didn't seem to be a proper ending.

As for the rest of the book, I can't say that I ever really got into it. I was unattached from the characters and the storyline. I don't know if it's because I've read too many books that are similar or if it was the style but something stopped me from liking it. It was just "meh" for me.

I don't think I'll be continuing the series.

I've read quite a few of Feehan's paranormal books and enjoyed them so the chance to read a contemporary book by her? Sure, why not.

I enjoyed this more than I expected. MC's can be hit and miss for me but this one worked well for me. It had a touch of unusual talents, almost paranormal abilities, in some of the guys and I liked that. It was interesting in how connected they all were, how in sync... There were some dark themes throughout this book so it isn't for the faint hearted.

Add in the romance, and although he could be a bit domineering, I actually really liked that side of the story too.

Very intrigued about the rest of the members and the women/men who will claim them. Can't wait to read more.

*I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

I'd been looking at this book for a while. I've recently noticed a love for YA Contemporary Romances. And this is that.

I liked it but I thought that their relationship progressed a bit too quickly in the beginning. One minute they were meeting for the first time and several pages later they were kissing and touching each other. I get that they'd been watching each other for years and felt like they knew each other but I kinda missed that awkwardness of it all--though admittedly that bit came later with the "family planning" aisle.

I'm still feeling torn over my rating of this. I wasn't blown away by it at all but the romance and connection between them, once it really got going was really sweet.
