I wanted to love this book. I liked Ware's Woman in Cabin 10, and with all of the blurbs saying it was a lot like Agatha Christie's cozy mysteries.
NEVER INVOKE THE QUEEN OF MYSTERY IF IT'S A SHIT BOOK. I got about 30 percent of the way into this book, and had it all figured out. So I didn't even bother reading the rest, I just googled the plot, and sources told me I was correct, then, for good measure, I read the last chapter. It was not atmospheric, as some suggest. It was plain boring. The main character, Hal, was completely obnoxious. I got that she was poor, because it was mentioned legitimately once every few pages. Everything was just so blatantly obvious. And please, authors, for the love of god, STOP USING INCEST as a plot point.
Because of this book, I'm probably never going to read another Ruth Ware book. I am completely angry I wasted time on this POS book.

I loved and enjoyed this a lot. It was the perfect light and cozy spooky type of read yet it also has deep meaning, great themes and lessons in it as well. It's the first book in what I think will be an amazing Middle-Grade series and the more I read and check into MG books, the more I think that MG is sometimes being overlooked and shouldn't be. Middle Grade is a gold mine with lots of hidden gems in it and this is one of them that had me feeling very satisfied, happy and left with warm fuzzies.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Also J. A. White is a fantastic author, I keep falling in love with all his stories and books. If you haven't read this book or any books by J. A. White then you'd better go check his books out!

An Ivy Hill Christmas - Was enchanting and totally helped me get in the mood of Christmas. While I have not read any of Julie Klassen books before I knew I wanted to start reading her books as she is known for her fantastic characters, settings, and regency era fiction, which are some of my favorite bookish things when combined.
This book was like being transported back in time and immersed in a magical Christmas wonderland. Richard and Arabella had great chemistry right from the beginning and I loved their banter with each other. They had meaningful interactions and portrayed some realistic truths. The story was filled with some interesting twists, old secrets, lost love, and an interesting plot that kept me heavily engaged with the characters. An Ivy Hill Christmas Made me cozy inside, I highly recommend this sweet Christmas story and I am excited to have found a new author to read
