I am always fascinated with any novel, fiction or otherwise, that is set in the time of World War II. This book took me a bit longer to get in to than is typical of a book set in this time period. But the end made it well worth the wait.
At times it is hard to follow because it bounces back & forth between Boise's life currently & her childhood spent in a small village in France during WWII. The story itself didn't form fully for me until it ended...all the loose ends were tied up & the events up to that point finally made sense. The 1 thing that frustrated me was Mirabelle, the mother. I was left not being quite sure whether or not she was really crazy.

Wow!!! What an awesome book!! I had not read anything by this author before and I must say that winning an ARC of this book turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Montanari is truly a masterful storyteller. The book was dark and sinister but I was sucked in from the get go. The mystery kept me guessing until the very end which doesn't happen all that often to me with books in this genre. The best part is the story is believable despite some crazy unexpected twists and turns.
The two main characters, detectives Byrne and Jessica were interesting believable characters. They made the story what it is and didn't let it get too far over the top. I definitely look forward to reading more by this author in the future!

Amazing read!!!!! I could not put the book down. I was unsure how this horror story was going to play out as I am not familiar with the myth but can say that it was very well written and not in the slightest gory. This story is very chilling, creepy, fast paced, and above all nail biting exciting. The writer has created characters that drew me in from the beginning, from Jemima, her Great Uncle Tomaz, crazy Mary (homeless lady), the kids at school (bullies/school crushes), to the hateful school governess. These characters were beautifully crafted and well written.

NOTE: A few may find the sexual element of this book unsettling; however, I think the author was tactful in writing about the taboo subject in this horror novel and handled it very well.

Cast was incredible! McCarthy and Hemsworth were perfect choices, would have loved more of Bill Murray's character though! (2 more)
Great story flow and sequences. I would have liked more from Rowan, but the Kevin twist was superb!
Characters blended perfectly together. EXCELLENT CHEMISTRY from top billing to minor characters.
The movie should have acknowledged that this is an alternate dimension, which it is. People are more intrigued with it being an alternate dimension that a reboot, because the sequel comics are even more awesome! (1 more)
I need more depth from Rowan, guy was a genius who was left looking like a bumbling fool, and a whole lot more Martin Heiss, especially after the fall! Imagine a wacky neck brace sporting Dr. Heiss freaking out about being proven wrong and going crazy!
Third Chapter IS Alternate Dimension!

Not Okay
I'm normally a fan of road trip novels, and the crazy adventures they feature. I picked up this book expected to really enjoy a cynical take on life as a teenager. Instead this book pissed me off. I would never ever want any teenager who suffers from depression or bullying to read this book. The attitude in this book is that bullying happens, and no one cares so don't bother asking for help. By the end of the book the attitude is a little better, but never enough to make up for the awful things that adults allow to happen in the beginning. I will say there was a few shining moments mostly involving a dog, but even that only pulls my overall rating to a 3.

Lots of action
Good 3rd series
Well this 3rd series came as a big surprise as the actor playing Riggs is no longer a part of the show and wasn't replaced. So effectively it is no longer Lethal Weapon as we only have Murtaugh. Slightly odd decision but we now have Seann William Scott who is suitabley cast as a slightly crazy former CIA agent now partnered with Murtaugh.
The chemistry is good and generally quite funny a lot of the time, along with the usual action and shoot outs you expect. I didn't think I would enjoy this series as much with the big cast change. However it is nearly as good as the first two series. Maybe they should have called it something else though.

This is one enjoyable book with a Kodiak bear that will make you want one for your very own. This was my first foray into the world of Shifters Unbound and it won't be my last. Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone without any confusion - or at least I didn't find it confusing. There is enough detail given about mated pairs that I want to read their stories just to be nosy but nothing that gives anything away or leaves you wondering enough to drive you crazy.

The story itself is very well written and comes complete with action, tenderness, romance and fistfights.

This is only a novella so it does go quite quickly but definitely recommended to all Shifter fans.

This true crime documentary left me feeling very sad. It's the story of a father's quest to get his wrong convicted son out of prison. The case was crazy, and the prosecutor(s) were so corrupt (surprise, surprise). Obviously, this quest leads to said release from prison.
The most heartbreaking thing was that after the son went through all this, he had no idea as to how to function in the outside world, since he was just 20 when convicted. I ended up just feeling completely awful for him, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the dude ends up offing himself, or purposely gets in trouble to go back to the structured environment in prison.
It's a pretty short, interesting watch, if you're a true crime buff.

Girl problems
413. 68 Kill. Chip's girlfriend Liza is gorgeous. Liza's sugar daddy has 68 thousand bucks in a safe that she wants to steal. Oh yea Liza is a prostitute and more than likely a sociopath. I know, you shouldn't make judgements about people based on only a few observations... With that, Liza also murders her sugar daddy and his wife, ooops and apparently they had another guest over, beauty, Violet that witnesses the whole thing. Now a sociopath would probably just kill the witness right? Liza does not, Chip is very relieved at this. Liza informs Chip that they'll just sell Violet to her brother Dwayne. Hmm. What to do? Love, makes you do crazy things... That kicks off quite the night for Chip in this violent black comedy. Filmbufftim on FB!
