As visually perfect a cinematic representation of this franchise as we're ever going to get - really knockout stuff to look at (the CGI is sparing but amazing even by today's standards, practicals are godly). Corroded aesthetic, stiff acting, lots of extended cutscene-like exposition and sequences of people picking up/memorizing stuff... exactly like the games. Though, the seamless emulation only really translates to style, as I feel this doesn't really 'get' what makes the franchise's writing so special. The changes this makes to the lore seem very arbitrary, and the story is in big 'I don't care' mode. Too long to justify that, truthfully - but it ends with a fuckton of crazy cultists getting ripped apart by barbed wire and roasting people alive. So I'm pleased. Mitchell and Bean are madly boring, Ferland and Krige *slay* (literally and figuratively). Sidenote: I found it very amusing that there was a profession listed in the credits called "Senior roach simulation T.D.".

This is what I've been waiting for: the confrontation where Will must put on his big girl panties and make decision - finally leave Angie behind and try to build a future with Sara or run back to the only piece of his past that continues to hurt him. I'll be honest, reading from Angie's point of view gave me no sense of sympathy, at all. As a mother, I could understand her desire to help her daughter and do right by her, but each thought and decision was surrounded by so much crazy, it was difficult to empathize with her. I never liked Angie, really, and with each book, my dislike grew into hatred and, at one point, literal loathing. As far as I'm aware, The Kept Woman is the last of Will Trent's story and I do believe I'm rather satisfied with how much Will has grown, matured, and changed throughout the series. Not sure it could end on a better note than it did!

This made me laugh, this made me cry.

I loved finding out the details of what happened that night. How mistaken identity ruined so many lives that night but how strangely it all worked itself out in the end. How meeting that certain girl again made him realise how far he'd fallen and how he tried his best to make himself worthy again.

I feel like I have to give Lucas's mum a mention. She is CRAZY! Every time she's mentioned, she's either saying something about Grandbabies or shouting some sort of sex related word. It was hilarious at times, especially when she was talking about Connect Four.

I also loved how there was an audiobook free in my Kindle Unlimited download of this, my only issue with that is that they spoke slower than I was reading it myself, so I only listened when in the bath but it was still good.

3.5 stars.

There's something about Tijan's books that leaves me wondering what I've just read. The same thing happened with Broken & Screwed 1 and 2.

That's not to say that's a bad thing. I did like this. There was just so much going on and people getting together with everyone that I kind of lost the plot a little.

Then the Mason and Sam thing just kind of appeared between one page and the next, it might not have done but that's how it seemed to me. They did make quite a nice couple but I didn't quite get Mason a lot of the time.

Logan on the other hand, I loved. He's crazy but he's loyal and protective of his family.

As for everyone else...well, they're kinda not important. Not in the grand scheme of the book. Though I grew to like Nate too.

I guess I'll have to continue the series to find out what will happen next now, too.
