There's No Game Like It!
Trying to explain Rocket League to the uninitiated makes you feel kind of silly. To be fair, the concept of soccer played with rocket cars in enclosed arenas does sound pretty silly. But as soon as someone sees the game played, they know it looks like crazy fun. Then when they first play it, the fun factor is confirmed, but they know they have to "get good, scrub." The skill cap in Rocket League has to be endless, the pros get better and better all the time and make crazier and inconceivable shots with more and more consistency. I've been playing with some regularity for a year, and while I've improved greatly, I know for a fact I have so much more to learn and pull off in a match. Aerials! Dribbling! Double Touches! So many skills to improve; I better get back to it right now.

Touch was crazy. It threw you in at the first sentence. It hung on tight the whole story through. I was amazed at the beauty and ugliness of the thing that was the main character—whatever her…his…it’s name was. I was amazed at all of it. Up until the end when I thought I would cry.

I didn’t want it to end, and when I finally figured out how it would, end I was furious. But I also knew there was literally no other way it could work; and yet it was still so hard to accept.

The mystery, the suspense, the back-story that fed into the current events, it was all enchanting and amazing and well written, and I will 100% read it again, and 100% recommend it to anybody. Claire North, you’re on my Author Watch.

As well as being well written, it was also well performed. I loved the voice chosen for the reader, it was read at a good speed, and it was read well.

Criminally Fun Animal Inspired Short Stories
This latest collection of short stories from the members of Sisters in Crime Chesapeake Chapter features 13 tales, or is it tails, involving animals. Yes, there are lots of dogs and cats featured, including a murdered crazy cat lady, a story about a dog getting into trouble with his human, and a movie stars famous dog. But we get some unusual animals, too, including an octopus and exploding cows.

As with any collection, there were a couple of stories that weren’t to my taste. But I would then find I loved the next one. And when each story takes less than 30 minutes to read, you aren’t committed to something you don’t like for very long. For short stories, the characters were well drawn, and each story featured at least one twist with longer ones features a few more surprises. While a couple stories trend a little darker, there are some light, very fun stories in the collection as well. Truly, there is something here everyone will enjoy.

Fluid Game Play, Beautiful Graphics, Overall Fun, Huge Worlds (0 more)
Too easy, Too Short, Too Many Attraction combos, Fewer Boss Battles, No Sephiroth (0 more)

I waited 14+ years for Kingdom Hearts 3 and for the most part it delivered. Overall the game is incredible, high octane action, intense story elements, and a fluid control system. The game picks up after Dream Drop Distance. Sora has lost a bit of power and is on a trek with Donald and Goofy to power up again. The game is stunning and beautiful running on the Unreal engine for the first time. Combat is way easier as now block and dodge are already activated. It is crazy fun summoning attractions like Splash Canyon and the Tea Cups. The huge worlds are fun to traverse and look for items, hidden emblems, and recipe ingredients. However, there are some downfalls, for starters the game is a way to short. Though the worlds were large there are fewer of them. The attraction combos happen way too often and kill combos. There is no Arena and no Sephiroth fight. Overall a good game.

The character 'Billy' (1 more)
Mac
This is the first time I've seen this film and I did not know the ending which is rare for such an iconic movie like this. No spoilers for me.

The ending upset me a lot!

Billy is very sweet and likeable and is probably my favourite character.

Mrs Ratched makes me so angry, and it's clear to see why she won an Oscar for her role. She is silently devious and unbelievably controlling.

Mac is a slow burner. You're unsure of him in the beginning, unsure whether to like him but by the end I must say i loved him!

Chief, Martini and Cheswick are some of the other cast members and they are very rounded, likeable characters.

Mac brings a sense of rebellion and fun into these men's lives, he doesn't go about a lot of stuff the right way but he treats these men with respect and dignity. He becomes their friend, he sticks up for them and doesn't treat them as if they're stupid or crazy. He treats them like an equal and it's lovely.

I’ve never read a book with dark humour quite like this. It was brilliant. The jokes are definitely inappropriate, and that’s why I loved them so much. It’s unusual to get humour like this in YA so it was definitely worth it. The only bit of humour I wasn’t completely on board with were the sexual harassment jokes, but it did fit the theme of teenage fantasies so I’m not going to complain too much about that.

It is definitely written for the boy band generation, which I somehow sort of managed to avoid. I say ‘sort of’ because I’ve still gone through that phase of obsessing over a band. I just love the way it portrays crazy fan girls.

It could easily be One Direction fanfiction with how bizarre it is, but I’m not complaining about that! It just made it even more funny and painfully relatable.

I started this book expecting not to like it, and I finished loving it! I just wish it had a nicer cover!

Dark family thriller - not for the faint hearted
There’s not a lot I want to say about this book plot wise, going into it blind is a real thrill, but the opening hook is:

Following the death of their father siblings Aaron, Franny and Bridge, along with their mother are brought to the Belfountain estate for the reading of his will. It turns out he had a lot more money than they thought but also an odd sense of humour. To get there share of the inheritance they have to stay at Belfountain with no contact with the outside world for 30 days. Sounds crazy but who wouldn’t when there are millions up for grab?

What follows is the ever increasing occurrence of creepy stuff and the realisation that none of them know who their father really was. It’s a very dark suspense tale once it gets going, with some strong horror elements.

By the end I felt I’d just read a great Black Mirror episode, so recommended for fans of that.

Wonder Woman
THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS
Honestly, I don't understand why this movie is a big deal for feminists. I get that its Wonder Woman and its about a bad ass female. I just think that all the parts about a man justifying her actions are overlooked. Don't believe me? Think about it. Diana comes from an island where there are no men. She leaves the island to go with the first guy she ever meets. That night she makes out with him. Not all of this bothers me. (Except when she started making out with Steve I was a little peeved.) What gets me the most about this movie is that when Steve is killed, Diana goes crazy and starts to turn "evil". However, when she realizes he loved her, everything is fine again. She shouldn't have to realize this guy she just met loves her if this movie is suppose to be all about girl power and how you don't need a man.
