Kim Pook (101 KP) rated Heartthrob (2017) in Movies

They seem like a very odd couple from the get go though, Henry comes across as very awkward and you keep expecting something bad to happen, eventually something bad does happen but it seems to take ages to get there just like many other parts of the film.
After a very awkward and way too long pool scene, we find out that Henry is listening to Sam's conversations through what I can only assume is an app on her phone, and that's just the start of the creepiness, as we also discover he is capable of murder when he kills one of Sam's ex boyfriends out of jealousy.
I lost interest very quickly if I'm honest, keir Gilchrist did a good job playing a crazy jealous boyfriend, but the movie wasn't all that great. I don't know if it's the writing or what but it could have been so much better. It was disappointing really as the concept sounded good.

Wren and Foster. Foster and Wren. Anyway you look at it, they are meant to be together! The sparks flew between them instantly and I held on for dear life, watching them together. I loved the way Foster had to work to show Wren she was more than just his best friend's kid sister. When the realization finally hit.....well, let's just say it was a hot slice of pizza for this reader!
Do I recommend this book? Abso-friggin-lutely. Do I want to keep it forever? Abso-friggin-lutely. Do I recommend eating it with pizza? No. If you do, you may choke from laughing often! With a beautiful heroine and a hot, sexy Hero that will melt your socks off, this is a 5 star worthy start to a fantastic new series from who I dubbed the Queen of RomCon. Well done, Hunter. Well done. Bring on the next!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Publisher and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*
Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Sixth Grave on the Edge (Charley Davidson, #6) in Books

It took me a while to get into this, maybe it was the fact we didn't get the answer to the question from the last book straight away or because of the lack of anything sexual happening between Reyes and Charley in the first few chapters.
It quickly got back to it's usual level of crazy Charley plots and heated exchanges between her and her "nigh fiancé". Add in all the usual P.I./police/FBI stuff and once again it was another great book in the series.
I loved the car sex scene.

That might sound a little strange but add Reyes, rain, a car bonnet and nakedness and you'll understand that was one hell of a hot scene. Especially if you've read the rest of the books in the series.
I'm happy about a lot of things that happened in this book but the ending has thrown me a little. I wasn't expecting it, anyway, and I'm intrigued as to where the ret of the series will go now and how many books there are going to be all together.
I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for the 7th book in October :D
LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated Piranha 3D (2010) in Movies
Oct 2, 2019
This movie is never going to be considered a horror great, not even close. It's cheesy, it's brimming with awful acting (except Elisabeth Shue, we love Elisabeth Shue), and it's completely brain dead, and in spite of all of this, Piranha 3D knows exactly what it is, and just waves it in our stupid entertained faces - it's a lot of fun.
The build up to the ridiculous finale is filled with a lot of one dimensional characters that are hard to care about, but has enough sudden gore (with some pretty nice practical effects for the record) to keep you interested.
They even throw in Christopher Lloyd just being a perfect bat-shit crazy version of himself, because why the hell not.
For the most part, it's all very standard and pretty average. But that aforementioned finale....Christ.
The final 20 minutes is gratuitous and then some.
The audience is just assaulted by outrageous violence, enough to keep you firmly grasping just how silly this film is...it's kind of glorious, and the whole thing deserves it's place in the infamous so-bad-its-great hall of horror fame.
It's dumb, but it's entertaining. A must for anyone who fancies a braindead popcorn horror now and again.
