Lizzie Find Murder Heats Up Her Life
Lizzie Hale is enjoying running her romance bookstore. So what if her love life is a little non-existent, she loves getting to spend her days around books and interacting with her customers. Life gets much more complicated, however, when Brody Pierce dies. Brody owned the buffalo ranch outside of town, and Lizzie keeps finding evidence that her aunt may have been his secret lover. Lizzie worries that, if true, this secret will lead to her aunt being arrested for murder. Lizzie jumps in to the investigation to try to clear her aunt, but what does it mean when all the evidence she finds seems to point to her aunt?
There are plenty of book themed cozies, but this is the first one I’m aware of to feature romance novels as the specific bookish hook. I’m not a fan of the genre, but that didn’t hamper my enjoyment of this book. Lizzie is a great main character, and she is surrounded by charming family and friends I hope will be regulars. Part of the plot was driven by misunderstandings, which drove me crazy, but on the whole the plot was good with plenty of secrets to be uncovered before we reached the logical climax. I had lots of fun along the way and even laughed a few times. If you are looking for a lighter mystery, this is a debut to pick up.

The town needed a hero... it got Reformo.
This was honestly such a fun read. This dude has some parental issues that’s for certain. So Simon decided on the advice of his dead mother that he’s going to clean house and the neighbourhood. So he invents Reformo the super hero everyone needs. Now all the way through this book I couldn’t stop laughing which when you’re on a bus full of people you get crazy looks. You can tell the author has poured everything into this book and it really has paid off. It’s dark, funny, bloody , violent and even a little emotional at the end there. Please read any trigger warnings as it does touch a few and it is dark and violent with some graphic details.

Tommy Jump is an out-of-work stage actor approached by the FBI with the role of a lifetime: Go undercover at a federal prison, impersonate a convicted felon, and befriend a fellow inmate, a disgraced banker named Mitchell Dupree, who knows the location of documents that can be used to bring down a ruthless drug cartel . . . if only he’d tell the FBI where they are.
The women in Tommy’s life, his fiancée and mother, tell him he’s crazy to even consider taking the part. The cartel has quickly risen to become the largest supplier of crystal meth in America. And it hasn’t done it by playing nice. Still, Tommy’s acting career has stalled, and the FBI is offering a minimum of $150,000 for a six-month gig—whether he gets the documents or not.
Using a false name and backstory, Tommy enters the low-security prison and begins the process of befriending Dupree. But Tommy soon realizes he’s underestimated the enormity of his task and the terrifying reach of the cartel. The FBI aren't the only ones looking for the documents, and if Tommy doesn’t play his role to perfection, it just may be his last act.
I don’t know why but this just didn’t grab me as much as it promised. It was an ok read but o found the chara lacking in any personality. Like I said it was an ok read.

TOXIC B!TCH is a standalone featuring a morally grey FEMALE character! Yep, you heard me. How many male characters have I read? This is the only one I can think of where it's the female, and let me tell you... I loved it!
Malik is such a teddy bear - sweet and naive, yet very conscious of his weight. As far as Indigo is concerned, he is everything she never knew she needed, and she is VERY protective of him. Although, to be fair, her idea of protection are slightly different to mine! 😆 I didn't cry about what happened though. Malik didn't deserve the treatment he received from someone else.
I thought this was brilliantly written - dark, deadly, delightfully crazy, and yet a body positive story too. The one thing I absolutely adored was the interplay between Indigo and Malik - even before he found out all about her. She is feisty and sassy, with no filter, and he is there for it. He loves that she doesn't play games, and she is just what he needs too.
Another hit by this author that I read in one sitting because I simply couldn't put it down. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.

I think of Anne Tyler books as being in my ‘Chatty’ genre. Three Days in June is like your friend telling you about how they’re getting on - and Gail isn’t having the best of days at the start. It looks as though she’s losing her job. And all at the beginning of the weekend where her daughter will be getting married. Or will she? Because it looks as though the wedding is hanging in the balance.
Gail and her ex-husband, Max, are staying together in Gail’s house, along with Max’s foster cat. A lot of the 165 pages are flashbacks to the early days of their marriage, their daughter’s childhood and the reason for the end of their marriage.
Nothing exciting happens. The story jogs along with us, the readers, getting the inside story of their lives and thoughts. I love this kind of book. Yes, I love an exciting Sci-Fi, Fantasy or Historical Fiction, but sometimes I just really like a story to be like real life should be - largely unexciting, with people who care about one another.
If that doesn’t sell this book, then I have no idea what will! The world is a crazy place at the moment, and it’s nice to think that there might be people just going about their daily lives, not thinking about the huge, scary things. Just normal, everyday drama is what I need sometimes, and Anne Tyler delivers so skilfully on that.

"Washing machines and socks? It works here!"
A SILVER FOX FOR KINKMAS is part of the Naughty or Nice Season 3 and we meet Barney and Magnus. Barney is Kasper's best friend (Crazy Little Thing Cold Love, Destination Daddies Season Two) and comes to Manchester to spend some time with him and Jude. Plus, Cuff'd are having a week-long event called Kinkmas in Manchester that Barney wants to attend. He'd really like a silver fox for Christmas, nothing too serious, nothing too special. What he gets is Magnus, a silver fox who falls for bratty Barney and wants long-term.
There was so much about this story I loved. Magnus' memories of Leo were so sweet and I loved how Barney understood and let him have his moments, feeling secure in what was between them. Barney is the one with worries about their relationship which, to be fair to him, was completely understandable considering how his parents were. Anyone would have doubts after growing up with that.
Light on kink (unless you count washing machines and wearing socks!) but heavy on emotion, this was a wonderful book to read and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
