Sarah (7800 KP) rated Krampus (2015) in Movies

A refreshingly different Christmas film
A Christmas horror film really shouldn't work, but for the most part it actually does. It's strange, as you usually associate Christmas films with sickly sweet happiness, but this is the complete opposite and it's a nice change.
It's funny, dark and doesn't take itself too seriously. The physical effects and make-up are very good, although some of the CGI is questionable in parts. It has a great cast and I loved the idea behind Krampus and also the strange ending. My only criticism would be that it could have been a lot scarier. It was creepy at times but I think it concentrated more on the laughs than the horror, which is a shame as a scary Christmas horror film would be truly terrifying.

Book Divas (227 KP) rated Asylum (Asylum, #1) in Books

I cannot begin to express just how much I loved reading this book. I wasn't even halfway through it and I had already purchased the second book in this series.
This is truly a creepy read as it blends young adults, an old and abandoned asylum with portions of it turned into dorm rooms, vintage pictures and of course an eerily paranormal factor. Edge of your seat, spine tingling read that pulls you in right from the very beginning and overwhelms your senses with a strong story line, well developed characters and the world building was fantastic.
I can't wait to start reading the second book as I must say that I was completely impressed by the author's skill at storytelling and the goosebumps I got while reading this book.

Amazing read!!!!! I could not put the book down. I was unsure how this horror story was going to play out as I am not familiar with the myth but can say that it was very well written and not in the slightest gory. This story is very chilling, creepy, fast paced, and above all nail biting exciting. The writer has created characters that drew me in from the beginning, from Jemima, her Great Uncle Tomaz, crazy Mary (homeless lady), the kids at school (bullies/school crushes), to the hateful school governess. These characters were beautifully crafted and well written.
NOTE: A few may find the sexual element of this book unsettling; however, I think the author was tactful in writing about the taboo subject in this horror novel and handled it very well.

One of Gaiman's best
I had this book pretty far down on my to-read list and wasn't really sure if I was ever going to get around to reading it but had it recommended that I give it a shot so I decided to read it....and I couldn't be happier I really enjoyed from start to finish.
Gaiman really just knows how to build a world that is both full of fantasy but completely believable at the same time that you feel like you could step outside your front door and walk right into these beautiful though terrifing world that ye has built.
The Graveyard Book is one of those books that adults and kids would enjoy the story is unique and fun but still creepy.

The Griswolds!
Everyone's favorite adventurous family embarks on their inaugural journey together to go see Wallyworld in California and encounters creepy annoying relatives and all sorts of unsavory characters along the way.
I once had a long discussion with someone about which was better, the first Vacation or Christmas Vacation, this one being my favorite of the bunch. The family dynamic on the open road, for me, was slightly more entertaining than Christmas at home with the relatives which is also still a lot of fun.
Seemed like a liked the introduction of Randy Quaid, John Candy, Christy Brinkley and Imogeen Coca and just thought it was a lot of fun waiting to see what happened next.

Perfectly creepy.
Contains spoilers, click to show
So guys, I just finished processing. “You” has to be the most intense novel I’ve read since The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.
The intensity Joe has in his, what he likes to call love, for Beck is insane! There is no easing into the stalker tendencies for Joe. He’s full bore from the very first time he saw her nipples.
I’d like to think that I would have some sort of feeling I was being stalked. “You” shows that one can go through day to day life and just never know. You would think once your friends started dying something was up…guess not.
If you love reading books from a love sick stalkers point of view then “You” is perfect

The tension is 10/10 (3 more)
Anthony Perkins is absolutely creepy as Norman Bates
On a first time viewing this film is guaranteed to subvert your expectations more than once.
The infamous shower scene
This belongs on the top 10 horror films of all time. Psycho is perfection and the best work from one of the best directors in horror history. This film isn't a slasher, but it paved the way for sure. Anthony Perkins gives the performance of a lifetime and the film holds up all these years later. Completely suspenseful film that is intelligent and has one of the greatest shocking reveals in all of film history. This is a MUST WATCH for any film fan, PERIOD.

Not bad
This movie had some good acting(and some mediocre) but the cinematography was good and the story, overall, hit the mark for creepy. This lady played the part of humiliated high schooler turned psycho pretty well. The story unfolded well. A little slow at first but rolled along at a good pace pretty quickly and smoothly. These kids, however, missed so many red flags with this woman. Naivety at it's finest. The ending was a little weak but at least they didn't go the typical "leave it open for a sequel" way Hollywood seems to love doing so much. Some partial nudity but otherwise nothing to graphic for younger viewers, though probably not for too young of viewers. Anyway, for you adults this one is worth a watch.
Josh Burns (166 KP) rated Until Dawn: Rush of Blood VR in Video Games

Take a ride on this VR horror rollercoaster through madness
Rush of Blood is a spin off of the original Until Dawn. It dives into the psyche of one of the characters and revisits several locations as well as taking you to new ones via a roller coaster. There is a very creepy atmosphere as well as really good jump scares. Your mind warps your environment between the asylum from the other 2 games and an insane carnival ride. Gameplay is basic but incredibly fun, you ride the roller coaster, shooting your enemies as well as collectibles. It's not overly long or difficult but has great replayability trying to get collectibles, trying alternate paths, beating old scores, or just enjoying it. It uses the DS4 or Move Controllers.
Erika (17789 KP) rated Voyeur (2017) in Movies

It seems as though the only thing that Netflix does well is true crime documentaries and series.
This was an interesting one, it was about this dude who bought a hotel in the 1960s to spy on guests and satisfy his voyeuristic tendencies. Interpret that as you see fit. The dude's a creepy dirt bag and it made me feel slightly sick to my stomach hearing about his adventures.
This documentary follows the journalist who is writing the story, Gay, and features interviews with the creep. It's very interesting to see the process that this old-school journalist takes, and his wariness about the whole thing.
Is the voyeur telling the truth? Or just making this stuff up?
If you can stomach the disgusting dude's exploits, it's an interesting watch.
