Marylegs (44 KP) rated The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance in TV
Sep 23, 2019
Such epicness
I went into this wondering if I would enjoy this. The film was one of my favourites growing up even though I'm sure it scared the bejeebus out of me. The series managed to hold on to all the elements I loved from the original movies whilst stepping up and became something new. They would not have achieved this if they had used any other medium. The puppets were brilliantly made, used and just a joy to watch.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) in Movies

Action-adventure sequel from Lucas and Spielberg. Indiana Jones and his friends find themselves in India where they discover an ancient cult with plans on world domination.
Not quite the perfect, gleaming classic that the first film is, nor as much fun as the third, but if you want a knockabout adventure film that goes boom-boom-boom from one classic set-piece to the next virtually non-stop, then you could do very much worse than this. Watching closely you can tell there's a chunk in the middle where a subplot has been cut to keep up the pace and shorten the film, but apart from this it's a virtually perfect thrill-ride: not as subtle, thoughtful, or textured as Raiders, but then I'm not sure it was ever supposed to be. Still very reliable comfort viewing for those of us who grew up in the 80s.

Great cast (4 more)
Very good SFX
Very funny
Kiefer Sutherland
Cool soundtrack
Death by stereo!
What's not to love about this film? A very cool Vampire film and exactly how a Vampire film should be. It still looks great today the effects don't look dated. The Vampires look like how you expect them to. It has some iconic scenes and great dialogue, not to mention funny as well. One of my fave Kiefer Sutherland films in one of his earlier roles. The rest of the young cast have great chemistry. It also has some great songs to cap it off. It simply oozes coolness and class, a true 80's cult classic!

B (62 KP) rated The 10th Kingdom - Season 1 in TV
Nov 2, 2018
First of all, being a fan of BBC period dramas, I absolutely love the genre of the TV mini-series. And The 10th Kingdom is one of my all-time favorite. I remember watching it our recorded copy on video cassette (hard to believe its that old ?) as a child and I'm pretty sure that it was the source of my fascination with fairy tales. The special effects are actually surprisingly good. It's a pity that it took them so long to make this first series because it would have been interesting to learn about some of the other kingdoms in the second "book." Overall, such an amazing cult classic ?

Hughdolanjnr (3 KP) rated Zombieland: Double Tap (2019) in Movies

Same old same old
Contains spoilers, click to show
Double tap is not as nearly as funny and fresh as the original, the added new characters didn't really add anything to it, the blonde bimbo air head cheerleader started off okay but by half way through her act you where praying she was bitten by a zombie , rosario dawson plays her usual kick ass chick takes no shit kinda girl all in all its watchable will never be a classic or a cult status movie, but it's oassable
