Grim, intense and brutal
This is a rather disturbing and intense book, written in the point of a view of a young teenage boy, who describes his life and how he has ended up homeless and in search of his sister. It is a rather grim look at some aspects of British gangster culture, a feudal system, with a landowner exploiting the vulnerable through violent means.

It is gory, and grim for the majority of the book, which describes the boy living with a father, a hired thug who has escaped that lifestyle, and a scrappy sister, living off the grid. It is well written, even though I don't think it is Man Booker Prize worthy.

A Crack In The Internet
For those of you that don't already know; back in December, Cracked fired almost all of it's writers. Therefore the Cracked podcast is no more. Nor is After Hours or OPCD, which were all shows that I loved. The Podcast was great back when Jack O'Brien used to host it before he left. Soren, Michael, Daniel and Sarge where my favourite guests and every week brought an interesting pop culture based topic to the table and we got to listen to it be expertly dissected by these awesome personalities. Really, really sad what happened to this podcast, but there is a fantastic backlog there for someone to discover.

Ryan Reynolds is even more assured in the role he was born to play. (3 more)
The jokes are relentless and full of the pop culture references and meta four wall breaks you'd expect from Deadpool.
Josh Brolin is great as Cable. Stoic and monosyllabic without being boring.
Zazie Beetz is brilliant as Domino. The portrayal of her Luck superpower is great and her back and forth with Deadpool matches the comics pretty well.
Vanessa is under served a little. As she was in the first film. (1 more)
You could argue some of the structure is too similar to the first film. Cab rides to battles etc.
Solid sequel full of meta laughs and some surprising emotional depth

A Star-Reckoner's Lot was unlike anything I have read before. This story was part historical fiction, part fantasy, and all adventure. I was not at all familiar with pre-Islamic Iranian culture and lore before reading this book. The author didn't waste words on excessive description, or spell everything out for the reader, but it was easy enough to figure out what was going on just by following Ashtadukht, Tirdadin, and Waray across the sands as they hunt for the mystical being that killed Ashtadukht's husband. Fantasy lovers, historical fiction fans, and anyone who likes a good story should really enjoy this book.

Note: I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
